Default Locker Comparisson

If someone else already asked this question, please point me in the right direction!

Basically, I want to know the performance and functioning difference between a spartan locker, an ox locker, a detroit, ARB (air) and ARB (electromagnetic) Aussie, Lockrite, etc.

Help me Obi- Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

Didn't really answer your question. Kind of open ended.

Ox, ARB, Zip - variations on the selectable locker. Standard operation is to work like an open differential when not engaged, spooled when engaged. Variations are based on how it engages. (Ox= cable, ARB & Zip = air, there was an electric locker that had lots of issues).
Benefit: All the benefits of an open diff on pavement, all the advtanages of full spool offroad
Disadvantage: Cost, Per Murphy's law - when you absolutely need it to engage, it won't

Detroit / Grizzly - variations on the carrier replacing full locker. (except 14-bolt, then it's more like a lunchbox)
Benefits: middle of the road cost, high levels of strength and reliability
Disadvantage: not as quick locking a spool (or engaged selectable), can make for interesting driving for daily driver if installed on the rear axle

Spartan, Lockrite, Aussie, EZ-locker = "lunch box locker", All of these are varations of the same design. They requires open diff axle to start and you swap out the spiders to get full locker.
Benefits: Cost, Popular in front axles because they disengaged in 2WD (but still noisy)
Disadvantage: Generally louder than a full Detroit, not as quick locking a spool (or engaged selectable), can make for interesting driving for daily driver if installed on the rear axle

Spool: weld the spider gears, or buy a mini-spool (spider replacement) or full spool (replace carrier)
Benefits: Cost, always there for traction (KISS)
Disadvantage: Tire barking and increased tire wear on street, for the front axle it's hard to turn offroad unless you unlock hubs or have full hydro steering

Tight! That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, mate!
