Default 4l60e year differences

Anyone know if theirs any differences between a 97 4l60e and a 2003 4l60e like in the electronics or anything. Trans blew in my 03 silverado 1500 And money's tight so I'm thinking about pulling the trans out of my s10 project for now but I don't wanna waste my time if wont work. Anyone help would be great thanks

I think it'll work just fine, as long as the 4L60E in your 97 has the removable bell housing, I believe some of them did for that year, maybe the late model 97s. GM didn't change anything drastic in the 60s untill 06+

Don't mean to jack your thread but I have a similar question. The trans blew in my 95 2wd silverado. What year 2wd 4l60e will work and are all the bell housings the same? Could I get a 4l60e from a 4cyl s10 or 4.3, 305, 350 only?

you need a 4L60E, early model. from 92-97 will work, pre-92 they were not E, they were 700-R4/4L60, and will not work for you. And apparently 93 was a weird year for 4L60Es as there is something special about them, but I have yet to hear a definitive answer as to what is so special. Anything 98 and up has a completely different case, the bell housing is removable and different pattern, along with a 6 bolt tailshaft instead of a 4. The transmissions came in, blazers, jimmy's, s-10, sonomas, bravadas, some express vans

It will work but you will need to use a crank spacer to support the converter pilot. In 99 they changed the bell housing, pump stator, and torque converters. If it was my truck, I would find a 2001 and up trans.

1995 4l60Es are 1 year only 2-3 downshift electronics and valve bodies. You will need a trans from a 95 only.
