Default Quick rockwell air locker question.

Rockwell 900 series air locker chuck in a 800 series axle using 800 series tubes, bearings, hubs and so on. The axle shafts would be made so the double splines are enlarged at the locker area to mate with the 900 series "7 ton" chuck.

Seems this would have been done before as a "easy" way to get a 5 ton locker. Figured I would ask the stupid question here before I started calling up people.

Any issues with doing this?

I believe the locker is part of the housing, iirc the 5 ton and 7 ton are the same axle minus the locker and larger shafts.

The 900 series has different knuckles, hubs, and in most cases breaking systems. These out of date parts are harder to find then the more popular 800 series.

Your right I keep forgetting the mechanism that engages the splines is located on the housing. So, I will need a 900 housing and put 800 outer sections using the 800 spline size tapered up to meet the 900 spline size at the double spline section on it to keep the 800's parts availability of the ball and cup, bearings, and seals.

Thank you for the help.
