Default Worth $500?

So this is for sale about ten miles from my house. It's a 2.5, manual trans that has transfer case issues (plus the body condition you see). Have not seen it in person yet. He's asking $500. Thought I could replace the drive line over time, fix it up, etc...

hmm well not much to part out... pretty much only good for a winter beater. i think 500 is fare. from the pics it dosnt look like its worth putting money into but i guess seeing it in person will justify that

Depends what you wanna do with it. If you're trying to make money, probably not. If you want a trail or winter beater then it's probably a good choice.

looks the the bottom is ready to fall apart. I would just buy it, fix the transfer case and bomb it till it really does fall apart.

If you do not put any money into it other than the purchase price and gas. Then it is worth $500.
If you buy it drive it till the wheels fall of. Do not do any fixing that will cost you money.

its only a money pit as far as you take it. Its gotta be worth 300-400 just in scrap. You get a few nights of bombing around out in the woods having some laughs and seeing how long it stays together and like immortal said don't stick any more money into it and when it dies cash it in!

If that's what it's for then yah prolly. I guess I'd buy a jeep as a beater if i wanted one anyways unless it was a cj or something.

But I was thinking a daily driver/winter driver is what he was going for. Either way ill watch

Talk him down!! Lol

If its a 2.5 5spd I think it'll have 4.10 gears... maybe worth something.

Parts Galore pays $300 for a complete vehicle, and some other yards in my area will pay $50 - $100 more than that. Jeeps command a premuim for some reason.

Yeah, but is your job so bad, that its worth it financially to buy it, and then scrap it for $50-$100 profit?

Gas and time to pick it up. Than gas and time to take it to scrap yard. I am thinking the $50-$100 profit is going to go away fast.
I probably pass up one or two of these a month in that $500 price range. I just do not see anyway to make any money on them. And I work cheap.

I can't believe nobody has asked about the doors. Base model like that probably has crank windows, which are hard to find in 97-01 trim. Couple hundred bucks right there if they are any good.
