No guarantee's that he beats Akers, but I think it will be interesting. I saw that video posted a few months back somewhere (either PFT or the espn twitter feed).

What the hell do you mean, "not guaranteed he beats akers".

I've NEVER found a video of Akers kicking a football into a boat, and my connection in the NFL told me this is what matters when they are choosing the starting kickers.

God, I hope you're right, i'd love to see the lions keep akers and have an old washed up kicker stay in place instead of a young prospect

x2.

This kid definitely has some potential. It will be interesting to see what comes of him. If anything, it will create some buzz which isn't a bad thing!

That last trick....damn.

So are the lions going to rely completely on this "kickalicious" to carry them to the superbowl?

I can't wait to see the first time he is the last defender on a kick return.

Just made the comment, since I've seen a lot of people react and say he's the lions new kicker. No, and neither is Akers. They both will probably make it to camp, but contract signings mean nothing in the NFL. Lot of people don't understand that. There'll be at least one other kicker, probably an UDFA, in camp competing for the final job. Same story with punters.

Well, one thing I always respected about hanson is that he tried to make tackles, a little better than most kickers. I would hope, if they do go with this cat that he can continue, if not improve upon this tradition given his size.

As it should have been. Akers has been very good so far. AND, sam MArtin is punting waaay better then we've had in a long time. Plus, Martin is handling kick-offs, so that saves wear/chances for injury on Akers.

Overall, the big picture for kicking, punting /kickoffs / field goals looks improved over last year.
