Question What Should I Pay???

I am looking at a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, 4D, 190,000 Miles, 4x4. Clean with new shocks, alternator, water pump, thermostat, drums, belt, and tires. Well maintained. The seller is asking $3,250 is that a good price or should I ask him to drop it? and if so what should I pay for it?

I wouldn't pay any more than $1500-2000 for it.

if you dont have a job and can search craiglist all day, you might be the first person to reply to a new ad and score a 97-01 cherokee for less than 2k.

going rate for those like you posted is 3k and up.

However I wouldnt want an 01 with that many miles if the engine is all original.

you will hear of people scoring them for cheap, but dont expect it

I wouldn't pay that much.Like Kareless said...Original engine with that many miles it's too much.I bought an 01 at a dealer with 170,000 on the clock for $1400.Motor ran but was already piston slapping on the piston skirts.Cost me $3000 to get it rebuilt and had to pull and install the engine 4 times to get it right.(Due to the idiot that rebuilt the motor wrong 3 times.)Be wary.

Sounds about right to me. I have seen clean ones listed for over 6000.

$3000 to rebuild a 4.0? Wow, someone got taken for a ride. I have less then that in my fully balenced forged piston stroker, including a $500 header.

Three times to get it right? Sounds like you were dealing with accurate auto in GR.
If you were, it's still not right.

I wouldnt be suprized if they were somehow connected. Sorry for your misfortune, I usually have the same luck if I try to pay to have something done.
