Default 3 link, link length

doing a 3 link front and right now im at around a 50" lower link.
its mainly do to the cross member haveing to clear the front drive for the t case. at what point is a link to long, other then a greater chance of bending is there a down side to haveing it that long?

i realize thats normal but can i be abnormal and have a 50 " link or is it a problem waiting to happen

Something like this should help with bending.

2x.250" with 1x1x.250" angle welded on top.

What vehicle? What type of terrain are you driving on?


If your just driving through the dunes in a wrangler, you will be fine. But, if you're rock crawling a full size pick up on 40's, you will probably bend them.

its a k1500 scsb, planning on 42" tire in the near future, going to see more rocks and trails then dunes.
i have know idea on upper length yet i was was planning on about 70% of what the lowers will be and 5-6 inches of seperation on the frame
