Porcupine Mountains

I'm planning on heading to the U.P. in August and will be heading over to visit and hike some of the Lake of the Clouds area.

What else should I do? It looks breathtaking there.

Head up to copper harbor to brockway mountain dr. Great veiws. Or there are tons of water falls around that area or munising if you get time. We liked the seney wildlife preserve drive off 77. Its a good break from the drive.

Go over to Expedition Portal website. Register and search MI. You can also get GPS coordinates for waterfalls, drives, secluded beaches and other attractions there.

I'm a little jealous and its been 12 years since I've been up there. Hope this helps and have fun.

I've never been up to the Porcupine Mountains but was just thinking about it a couple of weeks ago. My wife seems to have no desire to go there so I may try to get a long weekend away by myself to do some hiking at some point this year.

I've always wanted to go somewhere underground. But then I watched 'the descent'. Now it's ruined for me.

Unfortunately, I'm only going to have 1 or two days there. Would love to do some mnt biking but want to hike and kayak as well. I'm just trying to figure out the best things to do and fit it in.

Then why are you asking? If you only have 1 or 2 days then you should just kayak, hike and enjoy the Mts. Do I have to teach you EVERYTHING?

1 or two days there will really only cover the Porkies and Lake of the Clouds area.

If you had more time I have GPS points of some very beautiful out of the way spots and things from Munising, & Houghton to Copper Harbor.
