It is frustrating to hear that over and over. Hormone jacked, roided ect. Most people have no clue how food is produced or what is done at the packer. Just as people buy into "organic" without knowing the truth on who can an cannot put that on a package. Being that make my living in the industry it strikes a nerve. It is the same as me saying "all off roaders destroy nature, drive drunk, and trash my beautiful forest."

Yes my white cracker ass feeds my 2yo KFC. She eats like one or 2 bites of chicken then mac has some fruit and string cheese. She also like pizza sloppy joes and McDonalds fries.
I cant always giver her the proper home cooked meal but every meal is well balanced.

I completely agree with the steroid bits, and I'm also uncomfortable genetically modified crops. Would you care to divulge the methods used to increase hanging weights, decrease hang time, and cleanliness standards?

Don't get butthurt, you work in a production field that very smart nerd bean-counters have completely mastered without regard for long term health concerns.

I won't pretend to know much about the harvest and processing of live stock. I know a fair amount about the nutrition intake and management swine more than others as swine science was what I really got into. I did take some beef classes but I have very limited (not much more than a year) real world experience. I currently work on the row crop production side of the industry (soybeans, corn and alfalfa to be exact). As far as GMO crops I can tell you quite a bit and what I don't know I have a team of agronomist and plant breaders who can answer my questions. What upsets me is mindlessly trashing something without proper facts.

Welcome to the USA. Unfortunately this has become the norm in our society, free speech protects mindless trashing.

Just wondering, you must know if you would make a comment that directly attacks the industry.

yeah it's probably true. I also saw a study of a guy who once got strep throat 4-5 times a year, the common cold another 2-3 and then he stopped eating processed shit, started slowly just eating meats and veggies and fruits, and then took it a step further and started eating organic foods when funds allowed and then low and behold his body fat dropped by almost 10% (so far) and he hasn't been sick in nearly 8 months.....

Weird, I no longer have my doctor breathing down my neck to remove my tonsils and adnoids. I was fairly healthy to begin with.....

But as mschaffer stated, look at all the fat fucks with diabetes and other things because of their obesity and the foods they eat and when they stop eating shit, start losing some weight, all of a sudden the diabetes and other illnesses go away....

Nah, that's all just bullshit right?

No hormones or steroids are allowed in raising chickens
Poultry_farming Poultry_farming

The link I had talked about beef and sheep you're right, the part further down does state no poultry is allowed to be steroided. Regardless, the process of raising meet chickens is pretty gross, so is the recently banned process of battery cages for egg laying chickens.

You're absolutely correct. Diet and exercise are vital without question. The disagreement isn't based on whether fast food is good or bad, there's no question. The topic of debate was the poultry in general I believe. That being the case, his organic comment was ligit. There's a huge gap between organic and fast food. Somewhere in the middle would be perfectly healthy for the average American.

jumbo cornish -> "fuck you natural growth."

as far as pigs go, you remember that episode of dirty jobs where mike was on the pig farm? that style of feeding/farming is the reason store bought pork is soft, has very pink color, and grey fat (read bad flavor).

You're also absolutely correct, the point I was making is that even though I don't eat fast food and was eating "normal" healhty food and maintaining a fairly normal and healthy diet and by all accounts was most likely healthier than 99% of our population I was still getting sick quite often.

Blood pressure, perfect.
Ability to run a mile in under 8 minutes.
Cholesterol levels very low
heart health very good
body weight very good
percent body fat very good (higher than I personally wanted)
bmi acceptable etc.

Then, I chose to start eating "organic" or "locally grown fresh" and I have not been ill in quite some time. Coincidence I think not.....
