New Wranglers are supposedly coming out in '15 or '16. I know its a ways off, but one could predict that there will be a whole lotta used JK's for sale then.

This has changed and covered for the life of the vehicle.

Both my wife's LJ and my LJ have the gas tank overflow issue. Can't wait for spring.

You should have gotten a letter from Chrysler explaining this.

If the wording of that is correct I believe my JK falls in that window where it is not covered.

decent thread so far. we are most likely buying a JK either later this year or early next year. our daughter is a year away from driving (so 3rd vehicle is necessary) and the wife always wanted a convertable. 2 birds/1 stone

plus it will be the perfect vehicle to slightly mod (like small lift and 35s) and use as a DD, but still go to the dunes couple times a year and be the second rig to follow my s10 around (family time!)

I'm thinking about holding out for a rubi cuz it sounds like the better option of deeper gears and better axles to start with. auto for sure

am I wrong?

it'll definitely be a 4dr version so a couple people and the dog can go too

I have a 12 JKU and have put 14k on it in 8 months, I'm running 37's and stock gearing with a manual trans and i get 17mpg. My only bitch today is that it doesn't make heat on the drivers side.
I've had it back to the dealer twice so far and they have put in 2 heater cores and 1 radiator still no heat. It's going back on monday

i've got an '08 Rubicon 4dr, 5spd that is my DD. i've got intake, exhaust, and superchips tuner. overall really great vehicle, best jeep i've owned so far. my only complaints is the "disappearing oil issue" that the early JK's seem to have. i'm on pace for 1qt every 1k miles which is within "spec" but ridiculous if you ask me. motor is a bit underpowered but nothing worse than the old 4.0.

i really love my 12 jkur, but am starting to worry. Bought into the new motor and trans, which are great and far superior to the previous offering, but am having several electrical issues. Jeep was towed into the dealer monday after i lost all gauges, sway bar disconnect failure, and transmission hard shifting then no shifting by the time i got to work. There have been several other issues since new, all electrical. Vehicle has just under 30k, maybe i just got a bad one but am seriously considering cutting my losses. vehicle is still at the dealer and last update was that trans was not recognizing the shifter.

Our background was XJ/YJ/2xLJ before my wife bought a 2008 JKU.

Power was marginal, but mileage was the best of any Jeep we ever owned. It got better mileage pulling our popup than my LJ gets without the popup (close to 15mpg regularly). I milked 23.8mpg out of one tank, and consistently measured >21mpg when we drove it right (cruise, 63mph, right lane).

The motor burned an awful lot of oil - a quart every 1000 when we sold it, Chrysler would not warranty until we hit a quart every 750. My 74 Maverick in high school burned less oil.

We had numerous quality/fit issues - It was in the dealership more than any other new vehicle we have owner (leaks, wind noise, the fuel fill/tank x3, transmission, rear pads shot at 16,000 miles, etc)

It rode better than any of our other Jeeps, which made the wife happy

It needed front end work (ball joints at least) by 50,000 miles, despite being totally stock and never wheeled in a way that would have upset your grandmother if you were driving her Buick.

I was never happier to see a vehicle go to a new home (well, maybe the Beetle she replaced it with), although if I had the money a JKU with a Hemi and F/R ProRock 60s would be right at home in my garage for weekend use.

there was an issue with the heater duct doors warping in some models...I only bring it up because you say its only on the driver side.

Thank you all for the input, what I'm getting is they all have their issues, good luck...

She is looking for strictly a DD maybe the dunes once a year but mostly a convertible road car, she had a POS yj when we met so she's trying to get back to the glory days.
