Default Torque Converters

Ok well I have a tuner in my Dodge..

Now lets talk torq converters

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm thinking triple disc.

I use my truck to tow my gooseneck trailer several times a year.

Also use it for plowing.

I don't plan on doing twin turbos or anything else for power adders.

I have a tci triple disk in my 97 it works good. If you don't plan on doing anything else engine wise you would be fine with an upgraded single disk and a shift kit.

Stock this truck apparently has a "multi disc" converter.

What brand should I look for?

Masterbeatty what size pipe is that on your truck? It looks like 10"

I just noticed my exhaust gets pretty vocal with the mini maxx set to hot.
Might be fun when I get my clutch in I'll be running hot damn +boost.

Stock dodge convertors, gas and diesel, have a single clutch disc in the convertors.

A dual disc has twice as much holding power as a single and a 3 disc has 3 times as much. The aftermarket made these as a buying incentive to people see that, OH A THREE DISC!. Must be better than just one or two. NOT true however. The more discs you have makes the lockup in the convertor actually lock up faster. This hurts the input shaft, and all the hard internal parts.

Now if you put a aftermarket valvebody in it, you will have more line pressure yet, and when it locks-up, shocks the trans even more yet.

Go with a dual disc and a good valvebody and never worry about it again. Or until you get around 500+ RWHP

Sun Coast is very good also, but pricey. If changing converter, recommend changing flexplate also.
