I don't think I can stop the blood bath, but I'm sad you feel the way you do. I've known some of the DTS folks for quite a few years and they've always been great to me. I've been buying parts from them for around 10 years. I've been on tons of runs where they've given out hats, t-shirts, and gifts certificates. I've also been on some out of state runs with them and had a great time.

A couple of years ago we started racing TREC races down at the Badlands and we were always happy to run the DTS stickers, and will do so in the future. Not to mention all the axle rebuild parts we will be buying from them in the next few months.

As far as the gift certificates, I've also had bud luck over the years. I won a $50 gift certificate from a parts shop that I had to use in person, but it would have cost me a full tank
of gas to use. Then there's the hand ful of gift certificates from manufacturers that never quite panned out.

Again, sorry you feel that they were getting over on you.

I agree the coupon/ gift certificate might suck.Didnt read it,didnt get one.I go to events to wheel my shit,if it doesnt break,Im happy.If I get a gc or a prize thats fine,but I dont go for the sticker or prize.I go for fun.
I have been very happy with DTS Ionia.I dont go there trying to price match,I go there to buy quality parts from people who know what the parts are,and what they do.
It's amazing shops like DTS even exist,with all the on line,price matching,whine like a fkn baby bitchen in this country.
I paid $375 for a gm 7 5/8 tru trac
same for dana 35 tru trac
I paid about $575 for a gm 7 5/8 detroit locker.I dont pay attention to small stuff like bearings,seals,shims.
I dont get any special deals,and dont ask for any.I get great service,so the price is fine.
I dont have any affiliation with dts,except Ive give them money about three times a year.
I think DTS on your side of the world needs to step up the customer service,and you need to wheel for fun,not a fkn coupon.

Honestly if it clearly stated that the certificate can only be used on full retail purchases then it sounds like the OP is a moron for bitching about this. It would be different if it did not state any conditions on the certificate. How big of a deal is it to buy your damn parts that are already being price matched and then toss in a U-joint or two for future use to use your certificate on.

Certain situations you really need to be a business owner to understand. Customer service is important and i agree that if they are going to donate these certificates they really should not have restrictions like this but at the end of the day, in this situation at least, the OP is at fault for not being capable of reading.

The big thing to remember is that DTS although the same company, The two locations are independently run. Give the Ionia location a shot they treat customers right.

DTS has always sponsored events around here, I see where they are coming from, and I also see where the OP is coming from. They shouldn't lose money on a sale by sponsoring local wheeling, but then again maybe they should re-word their gift certificate.

i wouldn't say their bad. its more off an error of wording on their part. I've had nothing but good experience with them. but with a price match with that much of a difference plus and extra $50 off. and their not installing it for you how much are they really making off it. they got to run a business to. idk I'm still continuing business with them. they have always done right by me. and i support my local companies even if it means paying a little more.

Had 2 Dana 44 scout axles to rebuild, dropped off the axles and told them I wanted to use royal purple fluid, that seemed to set the guy off...said it was crap fluid blah blah blah, i said if you have an issue with that I can take it somewhere else, he said go ahead, talked to the service manager he did not care, so away I went

I still have 2 $50 certificates, said you have to buy $50 to use the $50 cert. So buy item for $100 with cert only cost $50. About to try and use them again. We shall see....

i have used them time and time again and always had good experiences....but come to think about it, they did give me trouble one time when using a gift certificate. The weren't willing to give me the same deal they had previously offered me if I was going to use the certificate.

I will still give them my business. I had totally forgotten about it until i read this. I wont trust anyone else to touch my axles

Our company does a lot of marketing and sponsored events. You have marketing events and sponsor other events for marketing purposes which is exactly what they did here. They donated gifts to the event in return getting advertisement to xyz people and increasing sales/traffic to there door. At some poi t that $50 is coming off there bottom line so why piss off a customer in the process. Look at the big picture....take the card and its done and off the streets so the customer leaves happy and will likely return for more parts or service. Worst case he never returns but maybe he sends someone your way but this negative thread wouldnt exist.

Narrow minded business puts many companies out of business. If he donated too much money for the possible return of business from the event thats something they should adjust next year.

Maybe they were trying to save you money and their reputation.

I was going to build a motor for a guy once who wanted to run pennzoil in it. His father and hos grandpa used it their whole life. I showed him several core motors full of parafin sludge from pennzoil and told him if he still wanted to use feel free, but find a new engine builder. I was not going to put my reputation at stake using junk parts or oil.

I guess Im a asshole for wanting to protect my reputation by using quality products that I have exsperience with.
