That particular Audi may be a 5 speed, which is nice, but it doesn't have the AWD. What's the point of buying a non-Quattro Audi?

True. I just figure the AWD is what makes an Audi fun.

I used to have an AWD A6 wagon and that car was great... right up until the cooling system died. The AWD combined with great weight distribution made for some fun drives through the swtich-backs in western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.

I would not mind a 4 door one. A 4 door wagon one would be great (pretty much a wrx wagon minus awd).

I don't believe they make a 4 door sedan, only a 3 door hatch and 5 door hatch.

Te 5 door hatches are so much more practical if you have kids or use it to load anything into the car at all.

That is where this whole thread fails. He wants to spend $5000 for a two year car to "communte" to save gas. Going to have to have pretty good gas mileage for this to make fiscal sense. But why am I bothering...???....

This thread should be titiled. "I want to spend $5000 on a car because I want a car now, what is a fun car to drive that looks cool?."

I actually have to agree with you for once, that's more to reality. I just dont want to waste gas in my trucks when I can save a little with a car.

You are not getting it. If you want to save money then sell your big ass gas guzzing truck and buy a car. If you want to spend MORE $, keep your big ass gas guzzling truck AND buy a car. I am not trying to be a dick, I am TRYING to help you, but you dont like to hear the truth so....... Why do I bother??

P.S. I <3 you.

you are aboslutely right about ditching the truck to buy a car.
i had to buy a car that got good mpg. i was driving 75 miles a day round trip. my v10 super duty was killing me on gas. unfortunately for me, i have to have a hd truck to haul the wifes travel trailer, my jeeps, and my snowmobiles. my dodge neon wont tow much of anything.

i have heard most of skooters toys are in little pieces in other peoples barns?
so mabey a tow rig is not so important for him, i have no idea??

some people need a truck and a car, even if it makes no fiscal sense.

It can still be done having both AND saving money. I drive 80 miles roundtrip everyday for work, probably average closer to 100 total. I still need a truck for hauling stuff and all the other crap you guys are probably all aware of yourselves. I bought a $3000 Focus in the beginning of May and it paid for itself by the end of the year even with the added insurance. MUCH cheaper gas, cheaper maintenance, etc. An expensive car and an expensive truck doesn't make fiscal sense(been there, done that), but an inexpensive reliable car can save you lots of money. Plus in my case since I'm no longer driving the truck nearly as much, I was able to step down to a much cheaper truck that'll still do what I need it to. Still would've been ahead of the game even with the expensive truck. but this way I'm that much further ahead.

Them fukus commercials claiming 40mpg lie. I haven't seen over 29 on the meter yet. My '08 Cobalt gets 26 and has a smoother ride (as far as shit-box car smooth rides go).

This is pretty much what I am suggesting to ShooterUnbuilt. If he REALLY wants to save money then buy a $5000 car, sell his truck (which I dont think he needs??) or if he is convinved that he needs a truck, maybe he doesnt need a 4x4 extended cab super duty. I dont know the details of his truck, but it is big and nice. My guess is he could save $10,000 right off the bat by downgrading his truck or selling it. If you do the math, saving 10 mpg on gas takes a long time to make up for $5000 + monthly insurance, maintainance, etc on an additional car.

No they don't. My dad has a 2012 Focus 5 door hatchback with an auto and he regularly gets 35+mpg in mixed driving and has seen 42mpg in long stretches of highway driving. Nice cars and they do very well on fuel. My 01 with a 5 speed averages about 30mpg mixed driving, but the older ones aren't as efficient and I drive pretty aggressively.
