Default drinking and working never mix

Found a vodka bottle at work, looked at the tape and was disappointed to see my main reliable person at night was taking nips and pouring into his soda/pop.

So today I get to fire him.
what a shit way to start out the week. but it can only get better from here...more hours for me..fml

if only we worked at Chrysler

A few years ago we had an intern from Russia, her first day on break she asked where the vodka was. She was dead serious.

Just be glad you aren't union. They'd fight for the drunk, and make them go to rehab, and keep their job. And guess who'd be paying for the rehab...

Where I work, I am sure there are a couple of medicinal marijuana smokers... Just never caught them yet...

My dad works at a plastics shop in Roseville. He and just about everyone else there, including supervision, drink after lunch. It's like the 70s. They still smoke at their machines and get crocked at lunch.

That was going till about the late 90's.......after 2001 it all pretty much came to a halt.

Has he been caught before? How about a warning instead of firing? Jobs are to hard to come by these days for a first time offense. Give him a stearn warning and keep a watch on him.

Depends on the job, ya a janitor can drink and get a warning, but someone that uses heavy machinery/equipment. Thats an instant fire.

Ya and the foreman/office workers can go out and have a couple for lunch. All they are is pencil pushers anyway. No body would even bother to check them.

Our cost guy on the last job would always come in half cocked from the night before on the regular.

i would talk to the guy first. see if there is any resolution before you shit can him. some people just need a swift kick in the ass to straighten up. others need a kick out the door when they don't comply.

Even one beer at lunch makes me lose all motivation. I'll wait until after work.
Half the construction workers I know smoke weed at work daily though.

We drink at work all the time. Last Friday my boss was pouring me a tall frosty one around 9 AM.

was not fired.

could not clearly see the bottle on the tape, just motions of unscrewing the cap and arm movement. Could not prove the bag was his, even though his clothes were there, dead cell phone was there and I plugged it in and got the phone number from the memory,
STILL wouldnt touch him.

got a few choices, go above everyones head and stir the pot or just say fukc it and start to bring in my own bottle, as long as noone can prove its mine what can they do. bunch of stupid fucks. I tried to explain Liability to them but got no whrere. o well, llive and let live, i did my part.
