Default p/s steering and trans coolers

Which seem to cool better at lower speeds like while crawling around?

Or

Tube and fin


Trying to decide which to use on my build. Will have an elec fan so air will not always be getting pulled through the radiator.

Don't buy one of those chinsy auto zone finned coolers.

Every tranny guy I've ever talked to said they are junk compared to one of these

I have to believe the fins & tubes are better. (that's why I went that route) PM MR. Green, he's one of those geeky thermodynamics guys.

tube and fin coolers are garbage.

heat sink are surprisingly effecient.

a stacked fin is better than above

Best is something like this

when I said "tube and fin", I was refering to the picture in the first post.
I don't consider a radiator tube and fin, but I guess technically it is.

Say your running a 3/8 inner diameter trans line. If you buy a cooler that has bigger inner diameter tubes/holes, it will make the fluid velocity slow down and cool better. Especially when driving at slower speeds. Think of it like a lake with a dam on it. If you put hot water into the lake, it will take a super long time to make the lake water hot.

On another note, you dont want trans fluid to cold or hot. I like it between 165-195 degrees, in the trans pan temp. Hope I helped ya

I ran a tube and fin cooler like the picture last year...maxed the tranny gauge out in my blazer...250+ degree! Bought a B&M cooler, haven't installed it yet but haven't heard anything bad about them. Also bought a electric fan as well for the new cooler.
