Wasn't that was the Commander was supposed to be?

this I have thought about a lot, using a 2 door XJ because the doors are longer, even using them for the rear doors. I know the last time I tried to get my fat ass in the back seat of a standard 4 door XJ, I almost killed myself

From what I've heard/understand, the liberty was supposed to fill the spot the XJ left, and partially why they are returning it to the Cherokee name next year. The Commander was originally marketed as a Suburban type vehicle. I remember ads with it towing huge trailers and boats. However as we know the Commander was still too small. I guess my XJ stretch idea would be more like an Envoy XL type idea. A nimbleish 6-7 passenger SUV.

Yes, that is why it would really have to be a study in proportion. Now if someone wanted to take this whole concept to the next level, widen the whole body by 8-9 inches, maybe by splicing two together or something like that. Full width axles, and the topping point would be the splicing of grilles to make a 9 slot piece, ala WWII style!
