Sorry about challenging your world view and making things uncomfortable. I didn't post this in the Pub, I've been around for a while and both of you know what I post in the RGP subforum is about Jesus. It's not my fault you clicked on the link, continued to read, and then took the time out of your 'busy' lives to reply. The only beef I have with you both is your inability to even have a intellegent conversation about the subject. BUT, I'm not surprised.
You're not challenging my world view. I could care less what you think. It's just funny to me when I ask you logical questions, and you respond with God creating shit somehow answers those questions. It's a worthless conversation.

I find what Scott posts is good for challenging thought.
As for some saying Christians are close minded......you won't even take a second to give serious thought to his post. In order for a mind to work it needs to be open.

I went to Catholic school for six years, have probably read the bible more than most Christians, and I used to go to church every Sunday. I am baptized and confirmed a Catholic. However as I grew older and with my experiences with Catholic school, I found way too much hypocrisy, illogical thinking and bullshit. So I had an open mind. When someone starts talking about God creating Adam and Even, God creating us in his image, etc., I guess I don't have an open mind when it comes to BS like that.

Catholicism more than anything, but I generally just have a lot of issues with religion altogether.

So do most. I do not follow a religion. Religion is flawed from the get go because man decided to create a way instead of following what was clearly laid out for them in the Bible.

Religion is pretty much crazy. I grew up Free Will Baptist where drinking, dancing and girls wearing pants or skirts above their ankles was a huge no no . . . where is the Free Will part?

The benefits of religion is that it is a place where for the most part people gather to worship and learn which in a lot of cases outweighs the negatives just due to the opportunity it presents.

It's not about a religion, it has everything to do with a relationship with Jesus Christ.
I think when people hear the term "religion" they get all defensive and think rules and regulations.
It's not like that at all if you look at it as a relationship.
You don't need to go to a church to know who Christ is and what He can do for you.
It's really quite simple, just ask Him any questions you like and ask whole heartedly and you just might be surprised by what you could hear.

Maybe GM doesn't care for theological discussion, but even as an atheist I enjoy a good argument (in the classic sense, not the insult tossing sense) about religion. Getting someone to explain why the believe a certain way tells a lot about that person.

I won't tell a religious person their views are BS, I just tell them that religion doesn't answer my questions in a satisfying way for me.

I don't believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. I believe he was an influential historical figure that had some mental issues, but overall had a pretty good message.

I used to pray, never got any answers. Why people can't accept that life has coincidence is beyond me.

That's not to far from where where I'm at. I'm not sure about Jesus having mental issues, I tend more to think that whatever his message was that it got perverted by others that came after him.

I meditate, and it has given me some of the same results others have claimed from prayer.

Whatever works for the individual, as long as it doesn't require live sacrifice, is fine with me.

That very well could be. Just imagine Jesus if he existed today doing some of the things he did and said back then.

Waco....

Are you kidding me? If someone healed a blind person, walked on water (imagine the Youtube video), Fed 5000 people with very little food, forgave a prostitute and showed her love and compassion (in a non-sexual way), told the religious leaders they were empty shells and that thier ceremonies were meaningless, that countlessly healed people of deformities and illnesses they woudl be considered crazy?

The only thing I could think that most people would think he was waco about would be his constant advice to love everybody, no matter what, no matter when, not matter the consequences. Not only that but that love should flow from revolving your life around God.

If Jesus was around today, the world wouldn't know what to do him and skeptics like your self would be bowing at his feet.

And yet 2000 years ago when he came and did that stuff they considered him a dangerous criminal and nailed him to a cross...

Which was the plan from the beginning.

Taking the punishment for the world, veil is torn, direct connection to God.

An awful whacked plan if you ask me.
