Alumcj had his mounted like that in his ultra 4 car, he couldnt get fans to live. talked with spal and they told him he had two issues. One being that the fan bearings are not really built to be on a constant angle and then he also had a set of fans with unsealed bearings.

he mounted his radiator upright and hasnt had a problem since.

I'm leaving for Colorado not this Sunday but next. You should stop by and have a beer and grab the bender next week!

Screw you wade, you act like you know me or something

Hosejockey, I will definitely keep that in my mind with the radiator. I was hoping to not have to mount it in back but I might end up having to if I can't get it more vertical up front. I won't know how it will fit until I get the shocks on and winch mounted. I don't have a lot of room vertically because how far my axle comes up into the engine compartment.

I'm going to use it this weekend but after that I am done until I get home in 6 months. Anytime you are free next week just let me know. My schedule is pretty relaxed right now.

I still have to build some pieces to mount the seats to the tube but at least I got the seats in so I could see how much headroom I have. Right now I have about 6 1/2" above my head to the cage but I'm guessing I will lose an inch with the mounts. I am 6'2" tall. I used 1 3/4 .095 wall for the interior tubing.

I also moved my rear upper links mounts back about 4" and down just a pinch. They are perfectly level at ride height now and out of the way of my seats.

It's a sad day....

Getting it ready to drag it back to the storage barn where it will sit being lonely until next fall. I'm bummed to be done working for a while. I'm going to go nuts in Colorado with no big projects.

At least there will be a ton of parts when you get back. Something to look forward to.

Hey just curious. What does it look like if you look over your right and left shoulders. You should simulate gas tanks and what not with propane tanks and trash cans and then take some pix of all views. Oh and also I hope you have been using your floor and walls as levels and squares.

is it worth putting it into the 5.3 or should i just find a 6.0? now is the time to do it if it is worth the swap since i dont have anything hooked up yet.

It all depends on what you want out of it. I would think a warmed up 5.3 should be plenty but that does not mean it is worth it over going with a 6.0.

I am no expert so wait for a better response.

I have the stock 4.0 in my Jeep so a 5.3 would be sweet, but a 6.0 would be sweeter. If I could swing it I would go with a 6.2 or a mini stroked version of one but do you need that kind of power for offroading, no.

Mostly depends on what you want and what your budget allows.

I have done a fair amount of reading on ls1 forum but most of their info pertains to a street car with long duration cams and high stall converters. I'm no motor expert but I know that isn't what I want for Offroad. I just want a good motor that has some get up and go and I don't want to sink too much money into a 5.3 and regret it.

Not saying you won't get good info here but you might want to get a broader spectrum and try Pirate. Or just ask our resident 1%er.
