Also as long as they don't water down the wrangler it can only be good as it will add more money to the bottom line.

It's just like when everyone bitched about Porsche making SUV's in the end it gave them more money to put in 911 development so a win win

Over at Allpar, I tried to make the same point in a 'Death of Jeep' thread about Fiat diluting the brand and almost got banninated because I said 'as long as there is Wrangler, Jeep will survive'

I'm a Jeep Liberty owner.
I didn't buy it for legendary name.
If I based my purchase on names I'd have a Power wagon( original)
But that wouldn't be useful as a daily driver.
I bought my KK because I needed a smaller vehicle that could still tow over 2500 lbs.Nitro's only have single speed transfer case so I looked at Jeeps. I need 4 wheel drive, and use 4 wheel drive. And I like boxy. My KK replaced my 4x4trucks, it isn't perfect, but does it's job.
If the new one does what my KK can do or more I would consider it. But not a fan of its looks.

Couple years ago my KK making deliveries.

With out giving my opinion first, I showed my wife the "new jeep" the first thing she said was "It looks like a Buick Rendezous". I think that is spot on.

(I think I may have seen another post on this. Just sayin.)

I know. Thats the point. It seems no matter what any car company does the internet starts screaming "Oh Noes!!!" Has there ever been a car ever that all the people that wouldnt have bought it anyway didnt say "that sucks"?

I think the KK would have sold even better here if it had been branded a Cherokee. I'm not a big fan of the new one's looks. Cross the Liberty and Commander and call it a Cherokee. Then brand the new thing a Liberty.

IMO, keeping the seven slot grill without "bold", or "big" headlights looks retarded. The grill panels are huge, and the lights are tiny. There is a proportion that needs to be kept in order to keep the trademark look. If the grill wasn't a seven slot, but some other form, the headlights would probably fit fine. Not all Jeeps have had seven slot grilles, why does this one? Oh, right, it's the only Jeep like feature left.

Good god. That is the ugliest thing to ever have the Jeep name...but it doesnt win the ugly contest by much unfortunately. The Jeep designs have really gone down the sh*tter in recent years, with exception to a couple models. I'm an avid Jeep lover and off roader, but I will not even consider anything built after 2001, bc thats when Jeep/Chrysler lost my respect altogether. No good designs anymore

I agree and disagree. The brand can't be diluted too much.

Make vehicles in a niche, and be good at it. All Subarus have their awesome AWD system, and they haven't started scrapping it at the aims of higher fuel economy to be competitive.

That's where I think Jeep needs to be. There's no reason a unibody RWD Jeep can't play in the small SUV/CUV segment and be competitive doing so. Not every Jeep vehicle needs to be a Wrangler, but they damn well shouldn't be like a Patriot or Compass.

Sad that now, Libertys aren't as gay as they once were.

It has some cool features from what I have read. Like the paddle shift control that will let you control speed up a "hill". I want to take one out for a test-drive.
I took an awd 300 out back in December and the 8-speed was nice. Other then the car seemed overpriced for what it was.
Frankly though, unnecessary electronics like vibrating warning sensors in the seats and brake sensors that drag the breaks when the wipers are on have always been a turn off leaving me looking at classics with modern power trains more.
