Thanks to Paul and Ed Schroeder (GLFWDA) and Jason Church (UFWDA) for coming to the meeting

I will not be joining just because of you and how you came at the club. I bet the GREAT LAKES FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE ASSOCIATION is so proud of you as a memeber. There were 45+ people at this meeting and you turned one of them off. I wonder how many more you turned off? These are just my personal opinions not the clubs. I was one of the guys cheering in the back corner about the TJ's.

Sorry you feel that way - hopefully at some point you can get past that and see the value in joining anyway. That is one of the differences between GLFWDA and a local club - although I have met a lot of people through GLFWDA that I enjoy hanging out with, working on projects with, and/or wheeling with (I get hi-centered just about everywhere I go and am always looking for a helping hand!), there are also some members with personalities and interests so different from mine that we wouldn't even know each other except for our mutual GLFWDA membership.

A couple of people asked, so I'll put the link here.

If you want to join and have a PayPal account, http://www.glfwda.org/payments.php

If you don't have a PayPal account, http://www.glfwda.org/forms/GLFWDA_Application.pdf takes you to a paper application that can be mailed in with a check.

Either way, make sure you include an e-mail address and your screen name - e-mail so we can get in touch with you easily (we don't sell our member list or share it with anyone) and your screen name so we can set you up with access to the members'-only areas of our forums. Not nearly as fun and exciting as the Stan Lakes Forum, however.

Yeah Shawn quit being a dick! You offended this guy.

Dirtspot, I hope you change your mind and help out the sport.

I was pissed off after reading the comments made about DMJC and wrote at least a 50 word come back. But I took a short break got a coffee and realized
this was just one of those people that enjoys the trails as we do. Its unfortunate that anytime a club starts to grow in numbers it becomes a target for those type of options.

I was going to join the GLFWDA last year but had to much going on.

Wow. I made a post (and deleted it) on why GLFWDA and UFDWA had to make a special trip to visit DMJC when there have been meetings and opportunities all over on the web to find out what's going on within these organizations. These people volunteer more time and effort than you can imagine. I would be ashamed of my club if they felt so high and mighty that they should ask these groups to come talk to them, in order for you to make up you're mind if it's worth your time or money to support them. ALL of us are busy with life, and it's very hard to volunteer time to anything. That's all I was saying. But I hope you got your answers and get involved.

But, the way I take you now, it really doesn't matter what was said, I just happened to be your excuse to not get involved. But I do apologize, I was more standing up for GLFWDA then ripping on DMJC, sorry it came across that way. I don't want club battles in this state. I have been encouraging clubs and individuals to join.

Yes GLFWDA made a special trip to visit our club. It is nothing we are ashamed of nor should we be.
We gave GLFWDA the opportunity to reach out to 50+ members, and in turn we had the pleasure to meet them, ask questions and have them answered right away.
I disagree when you say we feel like we are "high and mighty". But I will say that my club is one of the best if not the best club in the Great Lakes region and i am proud to represent DMJC. For you to come out bashing our club as if we do nothing for the community is foolish.
You didn't have to say anything negative at all but you choose to come out swinging. Deleting you comments does not fix anything for the people that have read it.
It was not necessary for you to address us as "DMLC". If your only reason for the post was to "encourage" a club to join GLFWDA you have failed and quite possibly turned 50+ members away from supporting. So you in turn should be ashamed for insulting anyone that has given there time to GLFWDA

I'm not going to bother quoting you, but the DMLC was a typo. Plain and simple. I was not out attacking DMJC, want nothing more then support for GLFWDA. I have already apologized, tried making things right, but for anybody to use me as an excuse to not join GLFWDA then I'm saddened by all of this.

Paul, sorry about all this. Never thought any comment I made would have done this.

Look at it from our members perspectives....if you thought that members of an organization were a bunch of monkeys that were insulting your club you would not want to join that organization and be around said monkeys.

You are putting words in my mouth. I've apologized, taken back comments I've made, and would love to see you become the greatest off road club in the great lakes region. I'm not going to stand in your way, I encourage it, and support it.

Ok, this is gonna be my feeble attempt to put the crap to bed, so if anything I say here offends anyone so be it...

I am happy to hear that DMJC is considering joining both organizations! I hope that every one of your members will seriously consider it.

I personally know quite a few of DMJC members, some of which I am happy to call my friends. I have never gotten the impression that they were high and mighty. Quite the opposite actually. They have always been welcoming to everyone around them and that is a very good thing. Maybe some of their members are excited to be able to say they ARE a member, much like youmay find from a member or Swamp Stompers, SoFo or any of the other clubs around here. It looks to me like they somehow teamed up with GLFWDA and UFWDA to get them to talk to the club at one of it's meetings, EXACTLY the same as the Swamp Stompers did a while back. It is MUCH easier that way. Good for them and good for GLFWDA

I am also happy to say that I personally know a bunch of members of both GLFWDA and UFWDA and again, some I can call my friends. I know Shawn. Not extremely well, but I feel like I know him enough to know that he is simply VERY passionate about everything to do with keeping the sport alive and improving. Were his choice of words great? Of course not, and I am sure he knows that now. Is he proud of what he does for wheeling? Absolutely, and rightfully so. Paul as well... great guy and he is exactly the person you all left your meeting believing he was. I have been around him enough times to know that he has always been the same person from the first time I met him.

Here is the bottom line. We all have the same common interest here. We may all like different types of wheeling or simply like to hang around people of the same interests as ours. Lets not forget, we all also have a WIDE range of personalities. I know a lot of people from several different clubs. There is not one group out there where everyone loves everybody else. Four wheel drive associations are no different. Each person also will bring a different quality to the table as well. We ALL need to be in this together as there is strength in numbers. Don't let a few stupid words typed on a computer get everyone all riled up for the wrong reason. Get riled up about what the state and the greenies are constantly taking away from you. I know for a fact that if some of you from both sides were to actually meet each other without anyone exchanging names, you would get along quite well.
