Default JcrOffroad Prototyping. Some redesign, some new products (TJ/YJ/CJ).

So we decided to do some redesign and new product development for the TJ/LJ/YJ/CJ group in 2013. We just purchased a nice 2005 Rubicon LJ from a fellow WF member and are now ready to start our process.

We'll keep updating this thread with new pics and such. If you have production suggestions, please let us know. You can always like us on Facebook for the most up to date info and pictures of things we smash! haha

On to the prototyping.....
One of our very popular bumpers for the JK model is our "Dagger Series". It's has a very slim and aggressive styling. First up on the docket is making some Dagger series bumpers!

This is our 3D rendering of what we've come up with so far. Hoping to turn this into metal early next week and see what we can come up with.

What do you guys think so far?

I'm also curious, would you guys ever prototype an A-frame rear tire carrier? Thanks

Looks great! Almost exactly what I am looking for. May I ask a question/make a suggestion? Why not go under the sway bar mounts with it, that way you have a total of 8 bolts up top? EDIT* Aside from "strength", if being present it would not alter anyone with a stock sway bar - those who have a Antirock or the likes won't have to look at a area of the frame that is uncovered. Just a thought.

If you are against that for whatever reason, can I person option that in?

Also can you do one without winch provisions, or is it simply on the end user to remove if they wish?

I'm sorry, but we just redesigned our tire carriers last year. There wont be any prototyping of the tire carriers in the near future.

This is a matter of cost in production and shipping dimensions. We have to work within a certain dimensional allowance in order to ship our products. This particular bumper is only under by around 1.5" in any direction.

For production, the larger the parts are the more money it costs to make. We build these in batches and need to fit as many "complete bumpers kits" on to each sheet to make pricing good.

Think of us as a manufacturing business. We don't do custom work anymore, we only build things in batches, ie; A Factory.

In order to make these as "one size fits all" as possible, we only offer it with a winch mount. We have found that those wanting winch bumpers vs. those that do not, to be the vast majority of our end users.

Still working on this. Have to add tubing to these and send them off to get painted.

Brian,

I honestly get what you are saying.

It's already that wide, and that deep, so the shipping aspect of my particular suggestion is mostly irrelivant. I do get the hidden part that if the triangle was simply present it wouldnt extend back to the rear most sway bar mount anyhow.

I am willing to fill it in myself to complete the look and strength, just wanted to avoid it. I am sure you understand, thank you for answering my questions.

None the less, very interested! Any ideas on pricing yet? Going to be in DIY form as well?

It would add 2.5" to the length of top plate.

Cheaper than our competitors.

We already offer a DIY Front Bumper and Rear bumper. We won't be extending our DIY bumper line at all.

Maybe. Just depends on what's left when the dust settles. If we do, we normally post them for sale on our facebook page.

Not what I meant - but a mute point anyway.

Cheaper than our competitors.

This is a well known fact. Let me ask in a different way that might not get what I took as a sarcastic response. Are you far enough along in the prototyping process where you have pricing levels established, or still work to be done?

We already offer a DIY Front Bumper and Rear bumper. We won't be extending our DIY bumper line at all.

Thank you.

My responses are not meant to be taken as sarcastic. Just trying to answer questions with what we have available right now.

We are not far enough along to know pricing at this point.

Here's what we have to do before these are ready for release:
1.) Finishing putting tube work on 3 of the 4 bumpers pictured
2.) Take them next door to have them painted Tomorrow/Friday
3.) One the bumpers are back from coating, picture day.
4.) Edit Photos, Build Product pages.
5.) Installation Instructions
6.) Figure out batch sizes, set up sheet layout, figure out cut time, build time, material costs
7.) Come up with a price.
8.) Start production run.

It won't be too long of a wait. I'd guess we'll have these wrapped up and online before Valentines day.
