2011 F250 drivability issues?

I know nothing about Fords so clue me in if this is normal or not. 2011 F250 6.2 liter gas engine, auto trans, 2 wheel drive, 50K miles on it. Has lazzy response to the gas pedal causing you to push harder until it takes off and then you have to let up. It feels kind of like an old vehicle with a bad accelerator pump. It doesnít feel like a dead spot on the tps, more like the motor is laying down a bit.

Could this be a cold engine thing or a trans shift defuel thing or is it the software (ie torque mgt) or should it be looked into? Is there a way to read any stored trouble codes (like turning the key on and off three times)?

Is there reduced power or just a non responsive gas pedal?

I guess you could call it reduced power. It is sort of like a hesitation or stumble but the engine does not run rough. With these billion speed auto trannies and shift defuel to protect them I'm wondering if that could be what is happening.

Just for arguments sake.

My 2012 focus I had was a stick. My fiance's is an auto.

Her car is a DOG until you floor it.....same example as you, say you are going 45-60 or whatever and you just want to increase your speed the gas pedal seems to do nothing until you are at like 3/4 throttle or more, then the damn thing shifts revs to 7 grand and screams like a crack whore fucking for a rock.

That is a known and apparently common issue with the diesel F250. I think they have the same trans, but not sure. The TSB calls for replacing some trans hardware, iirc.

Thanks guys. Iíll check with a dealer to see if the tsb was done to the truck. Drove it again yesterday and something definitely does not feel right.

Is there any way to check for trouble codes on Fords without a scanner?

Does the powertrain warranty automatically transfer to the new owner or is there some paperwork that has to be submitted?

Anything special to watch for, like ticking which may indicate a broker rocker arm? Is regular maintenance much more critical with this engine? (Itís a company truck and we all know how they get treated)

every vehicle i have driven since they switched to fly by wire throttle is like this. my gf's srx refuses to go without dropping a gear, my 08 ram hemi had big time lag but would at least get moving again without downshifting, now my 12 ram 2500 hemi with the new 6-speed auto is horrible. you could be rolling down the highway and have to slow down for someone merging and the damn thing will not pick up speed again without dipping into the throttle utill it shifts and takes off like a bat out of hell. one of my friends i go racing with complains of the same thing with his new 6.7L f350 work truck.

my 09 silverado with a 6 speed does this to some extent as well, but not nearly as bad as our auto focus does it.

It's annoying as hell. It does sound like brods truck has a bit more issues than the standard retardedness of new cars

You should have test drove it first and then tore it apart in their parking lot to find the problem and then left the heap of parts there and went and bought a Fiat!

Talked with one of the drivers from the company where the truck came from. He said they were constantly bringing those 2011s to the dealer and were told nothing was wrong with the trucks. At light throttle low speed, like in a parking lot, it just cuts out for a second or two. Has done it a few times now.

When asked over the phone to check if the TSB was performed to the truck the stealer pretended to not know what a TSB was. "Bring it in and for $100 we'll scan the" pos. Is this how warranty work is done anymore? Pay up front to find out if it is covered or not?

Does it have traction control? My 2012 Ecoboost F-150 will not even let you break the tires loose in the winter. If you take off hard on drive pavement it will not let the tires squeal until after 20mph the it will squeal them and it barks the tires and squeals all the way through third at least the time I tried it. Now with the trac control turned off it lights them up and runs hard until you let off.

After watching a few of the YouTube videos of superduty transmission problems, the dead fish (as someone called it) on our work truck is definitely from the shift defuel. So the trans gets confused and cuts the fuel until it finally makes up it mind what to do. Just another reason to hate new vehicles.
