Default 97 Sunfire FI issue

Working on a friends 97 sunfire.

It has been running on 3 cylinders for at least 5 years.

I put a muffler on it for her after some fool stole her catalytic converter, it was a bit loud even before that.

The metal crossover tube rusted a hole through it so she brought it by today.

I looked over most of the 280,000 mile set of wheels she drives.

Found that one of the injectors is not firing, probably the computer.

I can get a reman one from Oreilly for $80 and it needs to be flashed. Is that done at the dealer? Or can that be done with a tech2?

I would like to get it running better for her. It runs pretty good on 3 cylinders but that is the kind of crap that bothers me if it can be fixed.

I did a comp test and two of the cylinders are about 175psi and two are maybe 125psi, but again it runs pretty well.

I welded the holes in the crossover tube until I can get a price on a new one and it seems it might be a dealer only item as I could not find in online. And I wanted to make sure it still ran ok after she drove it and possibly overheated it.

Can a used computer just be swapped in or will it need to be flashed too?

Thanks, Jay

More than likely not the computer...they have a wiring issue in the passenger fender well where the PCM is located at.
