Talking Deulings' dune runner K5

Hi all. New here. Been over on CK5 for a few years. Thought I would see if I can get to know some more local wheelers, and more importantly find parts that arent all out in CALI lol

Heres my 85 K5, Put a 408 SBC in 2 summers ago. Prolly 3k miles on it now.

Last summer had a 700r4 Built by the best local guy around, also put a transgo stage 2 reprogramming kit. I love how crisp it shifts now, and I put the biggest cooler I could find with an electric fan pulling air.

Also has a 2500 RPM Hughes Lock up converter.

I play in the sand, bout it, some mild two tracking here and there, no mud.

The day after I bought it.

Build party with a guy from CK5, Kert from DIY4x was there and well after much liquid persuasion from the guys..... I got me some new stickers

Then the motor started knocking, so I talked around and had a guy start building me a 400 he had laying around.

Free shorties I cleaned up in my bosses blast cabinet.

Scored 2.5" mandral exhaust from an exhaust shop for $80. Also painted the headers.

Got a new top, other one had busted windows.

All sanded down

All Primed and Painted

Engine Time

My Buddy helped and so did my lady.

Junk

Finally Got pics of the motor

Then last winter I started the floor process.

I cut out all rust out, blasted everything I could, used eastwoods Fast Etch to eat what was left, (that stuff rocks, dont breath it though, nasty stuff) then used some weld through primer on the backs of all the patch pieces, seam sealed everything.

Then I bought the Liner Xtreeme bedliner kit from www.sprayonbedliners.info which is great stuff. 3 Gallons for $150+SH. Its a catalyzed liner to, no herculiner junk.

And it goes on and on, lots of patches you dont wanna see.

My next step is...

Alcan custom 4" lift springs up front
Fox 2.0s or Profender 2.0s
Fox Air bumps or Profender
And a DIY4X shackle flip in the rear (which I already have)

If any of you have or know anybody with used shocks... I may be interested.

Im hoping to do this. He has tripple bypasses all around and Alcans, but no air bumps, so im hoping with air bumps I should get about that ride if not a little better.

The 30 second part is my favorite. Soaks em up damn good for a leaf sprung rig with no air bumps.

Thanks

Hoping much cooler by end of summer.

Should be on some 33x12.5 Trxus MTs with 4" of really nice cushy lift.

Just need to save about $2000 for the springs, shocks, and bumps.

Just cant seem to find stuff used around here.

Looks good, if your going to wheel it keep a supply of those motor mounts on hand they are WEAK. Check them after every outing.

Nice Jeep. I need to do the same, but more of it to the floor in my Wagoneer. I am not looking forward to it.

Few more paychecks and the alcan custom front springs will be ordered. Then slowly purchase shocks and bumps as I can afford. Anybody have a good thread on cycling leaf springs correctly for optimum travel?

So heres the next up.

Anybody have any experiance with these???

The profender shocks are the exact same price as the fox ones $200 ea.

The profender Bump stops are $20 cheaper than the fox ones. Fox= $170ea, Profender= $150ea

I want the best ones, I dont want to be screwing with filling with nitrogen every time I take it to the dunes. My buddies FOA coilovers and bumps all leak and the ride sucks by the end of a dune day.

And I got a quote on the Alcan front springs last night. $490+s&h. Not a bad price at all. They custom build them for your vehicles weight and use. Ive heard nothing but awesome reviews on them.

So im sitting at right about $2000+tax.

Ill buy the springs first. Tear them apart and cycle the suspension using just the main one or two springs with wood spacers, to properly get all the travel out of my springs and where I will need to set up the bumps and shocks.

Then in the spring Ill put a new fuel pump in my van and hopefully sell it and be able to get the shocks and bumps.

And while im whoring heres my 88 Warrior.
