So I have to ask is there any kind of special fluid you are running or tricks to make it last?
I went through 6 different p-pumps from PSC on my ZR2. I also had a huge cooler and a gauge. The fluid temperature rarely went over 160 degrees. Everything was done right as far a plumbing and components. I never did figure out why those stupid pumps kept going bad. Glad its somebody else's problem now.

Howe will tell you that genuine GM fluid is the best. About $12/quart at the dealer. Many people have had very good luck with Amsoil Tractor Hydraulic Transmission Oil. Seriously. I had very bad luck with Royal Purple fluid.

I've also found that the "Rebuilt" pumps from the zone and other places, they merely change a couple pieces in them to make them meet the minimums and put them back in the box. I went through a couple of those, then I went and found a silverado in the junk yard with relatively low miles on it, grabbed the pump out of it and its been on there for a couple years, running full Hydro. A factory GM pump is always better than a chinese rebuild from the big box store. I've never heard anything good about the PSC pumps, and they're expensive.

First picture in a couple of days. I picked up the PAC springs yesterday morning. 150/200 up front and 100/175 in the back. There is about 3/4" preload on the springs right now, so they have to get maybe another inch. A bit more in front to level it out. Sitting at 21" under the frame, less under control arm brackets that hang below.

What's left:
final adjust link lengths and tighten jam nuts
final install front locker, shafts, & lockouts (hubs are on and rebuilt enough to roll it around).
plumb brake system (should have enough parts, at least for basic setup)
finish install of dash
install trans shifter
install trans temp sensor for gauge
plumb trans cooler
seat belts
spare tire tie downs
wire everything except engine, which is done besides diagnostic link and MIL
mount rear brake lights
install license plate
exhaust from collector back
fill radiator
peel out
flex test

Plan is to hit it hard all day tomorrow with JeepM715, and then make use of WhiteRhino's hoist to finish off the day.

Stop by tomorrow afternoon if you're off and wanting to say hey.

Are curbs high enough to warrant a skid plate? Seems like unnecessary weight to me

Well, if I have my way, 2 weeks from today we will be running Outer Limits @ Johnson Valley. John's low slung lokt on 35's doesn't need to be bashing in that brand new aluminum engine & tranny pan. Otherwise we may need to leave him out there.

Lots. I'm old and cranky. If I don't get my way, I'll eat beans and burritos for the entire ride out and back.

It flexes. It peels out. It has exhaust, brakes, gauges, and a trans shifter. It has a radiator patched with JB weld from where we found a leak after filling the coolant system. Looks like something hit a tube just perfectly and ripped it open.

stuff still on list:
final adjust link lengths and tighten jam nuts
final install front locker, shafts, & lockouts (hubs are on and rebuilt enough to roll it around).
install trans temp sensor for gauge
plumb trans cooler
seat belts
spare tire tie downs
lots of wiring
mount rear brake lights
install license plate
skid plate
vacuum line to brake booster and trans

JeepM715 and I spent the entire day in the garage knocking crap off the list. It was awesome taking it for a spin around the yard.

Huge thanks to White Rhino for coming over after work and helping out, then letting us knock out the exhaust on his new hoist from 9pm-2am.

Also big thanks to AlumCJ for stopping by this morning and filling our shocks with Nitrogen after we realized that our tank still out on loan.

Scott - is the test track gonna be open at all this weekend? If I can get enough stuff knocked out I might want to come flex it out and do some burnouts at your place.
