Default Louisville KY thoughts/recommendations

Having a final interview with a company in southwest Louisville, KY.

Wanted to know people's thoughts/recommendations on the area.

From what I can see, I like it. Plenty of trails in a driveable distance. Couple large cities in a decent drive. Dirt track racing, can go to nashville for hockey... etc.

Wanted to know what you guys had experienced with the area.

Thanks

It's ok.. Fort Knox is right there so it's your basic Army town.... Tons of Pawn Shops, Storage Units and Used Car lots. Also, be mindful of what bars you go to. Drunken Soldiers are a blast to deal with!!

That being said housing should be reletively easy to find and decently priced, and with people coming and going from being transferred so often, almost anything you can think of is for sale, usually pretty cheap because they don't ever take everything with them, and Army shipping is a joke

Kentucky Derby! We had a friend who was transferred there. He loved it!

I've spent a lot of time there (about 4 years total). Its one of my favorite places to work. It's a great town filled with nice people for the most part.

They also have the National Farm Machinery show there. You could give us a report on all the stacked stacked trucks.

KY is big on consumption taxes rather than income/property taxes. Not necessarily bad, in many cases good - just different.

I like the area.

Bourbon trail FTW.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I'm pretty excited about it.
Since my parents divorce I've been wanting to relocate out of the area.

Good soft drinks too. Ale-8 is produced in Winchester Ky. It's kind of a citrusy ginger ale.

Louisville is a surprisingly fun town as far as bars go. I've only been there a few times for a couple nights each time but was always able to keep myself busy downtown in the evenings.

X2 on Ale-8-1 and KY Bourbon Barrel Ale (made in Lexington). I'm out of Ale 8, but have a couple ales left.

It's pronounced 'Low-ville'.

If you say 'Louie-ville' you'll get laughed at, or your ass kicked, depending on location.
