Default Walmart Tire Centers

Basically, I spend over 2 hours waiting at wally world to get some tires put on; I live in an apt 3 hours from my tools/jacks, etc so it was my only option. The trip ended up with them saying they couldn't mount the tires because they are less tread than what I have on now and are really low in general. I don't disagree they're nearly junk but I just need them for winter, and even with less tread would be better in the snow that my current tires. I made them swap out a really really bad tire I had one, and the charged me $16 for it, 5 to mount, 3 valve stem and 8 to balance. I didn't tell them to balance the tire nor to put a valve stem in; nor did they ask.

I guess I can get around the valve stem, whatever can't hurt, but the 8 bucks for ballancing just was enough; it's not the cost itself, it's the principal. That, and it took over 2 hours for them to figure that out. When I got there, there was only one other car in the garage. Bull pucking shoot it takes 2 hours for that kinda work

Am I then only one that has issues (not the 1st time something like this has happened, but i didn't have much of a choice); or the only dumb enough to go to walmart for tire services?

Oh, end rant

I am finding it really hard to agree with anything here.

This makes me already miss Texas' yearly safety inspections.

There was only one tire that was actually unsafe to drive one; none of the other tires were dry rotted and all had at or above 3/32 tread, except for one that had like .5/32 tread, which was swapped out

Just as I said, they were low tread, but nothing that was actually unsafe

1st off you went to WAL MART for vehicle service.. be glad your car made it out alive.. Most places will charge 10 just to mount/dis mount no balance so your price isnt that bad... last note.. im assuming you went the wal mart in BR so you prob had some half jacked Frat Boy service floor reject still drunk from the other night when he went harpooning after some ZTA skank then woke up and contemplated killing himself and decided to go into his job at the WAL MART haircare/tire center since it was just as bad,

Wally World wouldn't put a radial truck tire on my car trailer, as I limped up with a shredded tire at 7:30pm on a Friday night, on my way north. (Spare was at home, my fault) Nor would they sell me one when I asked to buy it and mount it my-self. Nor, would they sell my wife one, because they had seen her get out of my truck.
No amount of rational conversation with everyone from the garage ape, to the Manager of the store would convince them to sell me a tire that night.
Wally Worlds Tire Center is usless for anything.

I hear you. I wanted the tires rotated on my FSJ, waited for an hour only for them to tell me that my jeep is to big for their floor lift. I looked out in there shop and told them to get my jeep on their two post life and they have 20 minutes to get it done and I wanted a manager. Manager came, i told him that they arent doing it because they just dont want to, and that they have the equipment to do it and i shouldnt have waited over an hour. After that it looked like a nascar pit crew rotating tires on my jeep.

So, they put it on the lift and spun the tires for a few minutes?

I've gone there a couple times when no one else was open on sunday to do tires. Took a couple pitbulls that I could not break down off the beadlocks, wanted them popped of the rims. Waited for 2 hours, Kept checking, tires still on rims. Finally found out they fully mounted them and aired them up! I told them to dismount them (They were half off, since the beadlock rings were removed.)... grrrr..

They mounted the tires on my F150, since its right by work and I need to get my tires mail order. The balance has never been good on them...

We charge 15 to mount/balance a tire at work, so the price isn't out of line, We ALWAYs replace valve stems, and if its going on the road it gets balanced. (Offroad tires maybe not)

If you wanted to mount nearly junk tires with less tread than you have now we probably would have tried to talk you out of it as well.... Would have took less time tho.

If this was one time, sure; be anytime i've gone to walmart for a tire something i've always had issues; either not doing what I wanted, waiting hour (s) to find out they can't/wont do it, doing the wrong thing....i'm not going there again unless it's a life or trip situation

I went to Walmart once on a Sunday to have a free battery test done. Over an hr later they finally had it out of the shop, the cashier wanted me to pay for the new battery they installed. After 20 minutes of arguing with her about why I came in I left with a free battery.

I had to go to the wally world on like a sunday evening in houghton lake. I had beads valve stems that were leaking. The guy got a floor jack out and fixed my issue only like 5 or 10 bucks, maybe because the northern people are just cool or idn but i was not unhappy at all

Many places won't do it for liability reasons. If they mount it they are deeming it safe. I had some used excellent tread tires kan rock wouldn't mount, and that was years ago.

That said, I try not to shop at Walmart, I needed a pocket knife today and Walmart was all that was around. I waited 10 minutes for someone to open the case, then they couldn't find the keys. I waited another 5 or 10 minutes only to be told the night clerk took the only set home.

.5/32 of tread is not unsafe? Do you realize that 2/32" is the legal limit?

You're a moron for thinking bald tires are not unsafe, and a double moron for taking anything to Wal-Mart for service.
