Red face Executive order gun ban

Just chill out and read. Have some faith in the Constitution and those that work and live by it. Government isn't stupid. There is moneys to be had. I'm willing to bet there will be no ban.

You're one bad dude. I can't wait to read the headlines when and if this gun ban goes into effect and the rentalrider from west branch goes on a killing spree and proves his guns were more important to him than his life when they came to take his guns

Laugh all you want but I'm betting it won't be all that uncommon for people to truly fight if their rights were taken.

I'm not sure what this is going to look like, but when an armed service member of the government comes to your door demanind your gun you think people are going to open fire?

This is our right, if we want to fight for it where is the million gun owner march? Where is the storming of the capital buildings? Where are the organized protests with the 300 million gun owners?

They can come get my gun if they want, but I'm going to effectively ruin my life over it and open fire first, because that is a completely rational behavior shown by most gun owners......yeah....ok.

Dont be a dbag kickstand. It may someday come to the ppint where people have to decide where they stand when doors get kicked in. It's not likely but it sure wouldn't be the first time in history. Ala Jewish ghetto cleansing.

I would agree. I would have a VERY tough time if someone showed up at my doorstep to search my house and make me register every gun I own... and I'm not even talking about taking them from me. There would be some heated moments for sure.

I think you're also rational enough to know you wouldn't grab a loaded gun and shoot the person.

Its not about a friendly knock turning into a shootout. Id venture to guess most of those doing the knocking would not be for the gun ban themselves and therefore would be entirely happy to hear the homeowner state they "sold" or "no longer own and possess" any more weapons.

On the other hand, if our wonderful govt attempted to disarm the people id bet a very large chunk of money a civil war of sorts would occur and many people would risk their lives for what they believe in.

Just because you don't have any beliefs strong enough to risk your life doesn't mean others don't.

what would you do if someone you didn't know or trust had the right to search your house for a reason you do not believe in?

no, I wouldn't shoot him. But at that point I would no problem protecting my rights and my property, until I was restrained.

Im sure they would be very graceful while searching a house and replace anything they break and clean up the mess they leave so it should be no problem...

That's a bit different than the typical "they can take my guns from my cold dead hands" tough guy talk that typically comes from this conversation.

I CAN see this happening....but here's the question, who is this civil war? What are the sides, who is killing/shooting at who?

Or are all gun owners just going to storm the whitehouse?

I would be pretty damned upset, just the same as you would be.

But what are you going to do? At that point it is too late....unless you really are willing to die for the cause.

Like you say, you don't know them, and they have the right or are ordered to search your house. What are your choices? They are probably armed, in government uniform of some sort, they are probably multiple people, and your wife and children are standing behind you in the house. Do you stay with your family and give them your guns hoping to find a way to get them back, or do you open fire and kill them in front of your family, or possibly get shot yourself?

Or do you lie and hope they move on to the next house?

All hypothetical of course, I hope that gun owners can unite and fight the fight on "their" turf before it gets to a door to door collecting of our guns....

In this case, nobody said anything about cold dead hands.

In this "war" it wouldn't be a gun owners vs whitehouse but rather the people against tyranny. The people would be fighting for their constitutional right. The same right given to them foe this very reason, to protect themselves from a overreaching govt.

I would have no problem with a knock at the door and answering questions or reviewing the paper trail of what I have purchased and sold.
I would not be ok with anyone entering the home for a search, and at that point would refuse them entry. If that puts me in jail, so be it. I have a feeling I wouldn't be there alone....

Maybe I misread the intent of his post because that's the answer you typically get. If thats the case I don't want to sound like a big old meanie butt.

That needs to happen today, not after this legislation is pushed through.

I am with you there. I guess I just figured rental rider was going all "pry them out of my cold dead hands" like a lot of the hilljacks around here.

though I know he's a pretty smart and educated dude, I just jumped to that conlusion.
