I went too on target, d&r, and gander mountain last weekend. Finding a 9mm is a pain in the ass. I picked up a sccy cpx-2 at on target. Like it so far.

I'll more then likely end up going to on target, although im not sure if they have a range? Also i was at dunhams and there used pistols were priced fairly.

didn't know dunhams carried pistols

and on target has a range, but I think it's for the gunsmiths. Haven't heard of people getting to use it.

This.

To the OP. You would be much better off spending a couple hundred more bucks for something you could actually bet your life on. Something you will shoot better, fit your hand better, etc. etc. etc.

For someone who owns several guns and just wants to buy a Hi-Point to thrash it like a rental car, so be it. For it to be your only gun to rely on? Hell no.

Either buy one quality handgun or two hi points, one for each hand. What are the odds that both hi points fail simultaneously?

"if the right one don't get ya then the left one will"

I've shot them, wouldn't personally ever own one.

There's a reason they are so cheap, when the majority of quality firearms cost more. The phrase "you get what you pay for" comes to mind.

I have owned two...a 40 carbine and 9mm carbine. I bought the .40 a few years back, then sold it when I found a 9mm a few weeks later. I kept the 9mm for about 3 years, and put a lot of rounds through it..I just sold it on Monday. Like I said, it went bang every time...but it was a piece of junk. Pot metal receiver, loose plastic trigger that broke around 14 lbs, and ugly as sin. But it was fun to shoot, which is the only reason I kept for as long as I did. My girl is getting into shooting now, so I decided to sell the hi point and bought a Ruger 22/45 Lite for her to plink with.

I can't complain about it's reliability because it never failed to fire with the factory magazines...but it was made out of the cheapest materials possible, the trigger was the worst I have ever felt on any gun, and the ergonomics were just plain awkward.

The pistols are made the same as their carbines, junk materials, bulky, and awkward...but they do fire. Since the materials are so low quality, you will break things if you actually use it (I broke the factory sights, scope base, one magazine, and had to go through the entire thing after a day at the range and re-torque everything because it would shake itself apart). And this was just on a plinker, not something I carried or used for protection. They come with an awesome no questions asked warranty because they need to...if they didn't stand behind their junk, nobody would buy one because they do break. That's nice for a cheap fun gun, but not not something I would want to stake my life on.

I sell them owned them and wont wear the tshirt . I get chances to buy wholesale lots of guns and parts every once in a while. I bought a box of cheap picked over pistols sight un seen cheap. All were police turn ins or evidence guns no one wanted. Guess what most of them were ? I'll tell you the second most popular thug gun is the ruger p series.
Its all about the price.

I own a C9. I also own a bunch of other high dollar pistols.

I picked up my C9 for ~150, as a range gun for my wife. We have put over 3000 rounds through this pistol and I have not yet had a FTE or FTF. I also do not really clean this gun beyond running my glock bristle brush through the barrel after shooting. All that crap just lives in the chamber, because I'm trying to see what it takes to kill this little bastard.

Its big and bulky, but the sights are OK, and it actually feels pretty good in the hand (we have a handall grip on it) and the recoil isn't bad due to its weight/size.

I would NOT hesitate to use this firearm in a self defense situation or trust my life to it. I would prefer a double stack, but for what it is, I could not be happier.
