4.0l engine

If i wanted to buy a 4.0l inline 6. is it better to buy a crated engine or a craigslist buy and rebuild it. If i were to buy a crated engine wheres the best place to buy one.

Thanks

These motors are great motors, they'll go 250,000 easy if you take care of them.

There has to be piles of them out there, they were pretty popular. I have one in my ZJ & WJ

If you can find one with under 150,000 on it, you'd probably be okay to clean it up and plop her in, and just drive it.

I loved the straight six. I just bought my ZJ last Feb. and set out to find a Grand with one. easy to work on too.

My first one lasted to 280000ish miles, still ran when pulled but had less than 100lbs in some cylinders.

Swapped one in with about 180k miles and it runs great.

Buy a good engine and freshen it up.
