Thats just what I have heard and has had me cautious on going. Kinda the same thing for harlan on one side of the mountian. I got to witness that first hand and almost became a victim.

At this point with "Oaktree" gone that is the best option. I absolutely love wheeling there but not having a safe place to leave tow rigs sucks. I usually go every spring with a group of friends but likely won't this year for this very reason.

Its really a shame.....i have been all over (tellico, harlan, windrock, superlift, rausch, ect) and there is terrain there that will rival any of those places and its only half as far away....but the lack of structure of the place makes it tough to justify going.

Yep...broke into, vandalized ect.

On the trail.....leave nothing unattended....keep all your rigs in sight and use caution just like you would in a rough neighborhood.

For the record i have been 4 times and had zero issues.

I can't believe how dry the creek is in those pics.....last time i was through there the water was covering most of the rocks

So I I get out of my truck to pee it will be robed by a gang of monkeys?

Is this like the ghetto wheeling spot? I've never had to bring a gun wheeling. I usually get along with people. But I guess no one has tried to steal my junk.

Either way. That river bed looks fun a hell. I gotta check that place out.

No not necessarily.

Like i said i have been 4 times, 2-3 days at a time and had zero issue....my friends go 10+ times a year....no issues.

If you are wheeling with a group and you park your to watch/spot or whatever you will be fine....its not that bad.

However if you get stuck/break do not leave your rig unattended for any length of time....that's where issues happen.

A lot of the locals are extreme hill rods who's idea of fun is drinking beer and fucking shit up and they really don't care who that stuff belongs to.

Yep! I love it. It's definitely more stable than my yj was. The only thing I miss is the power my yj had. I guess I will be doing a 5.3 or 6.2 swap after its payed off.

X2, just keep the tow rig at the hotel and you will be fine. I've been going there for 5 years and no issues so far.

I would really like to check this place out this yr, probably late summer early fall. All the reading i've done its suggested find somebody who knows the area.

Anybody interested in leading some buggies around to the harder stuff?

Nearly all the truly hard stuff is optional....you can have many levels of built rigs run together no problem. I definitely want to go back this year...i have a score to settle with a couple things.
