I have a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 on my AR, its a pretty nice scope for the money in my opinion.

we could put an end to all this and have a good ol'fashion shoot off! say williams gunsite outdoor range...I will bring a buddy with a high dollar 10/22 that will keyhole at 100yrds and I'll bring my shooter that will hold 3" groups

I would love to do a 100 yard challenge. I only have one 10/22 right now, but it doesn't shoot .22lr anymore...converted it to .17hm2 and it's stupid accurate. It's wearing a 4-12x40 leupold vx2, so it's a bit underscoped for real accurate 100 yard shooting though....

I would pay to see a stock 597 outshoot it though ;)

it would be a blast and put all this bickering to bed! People say they can do it all day long with a stock rifle, however my years on the range says otherwise

like i said, call it what you want.

I have proof, i have witnesses. I also have a great shooting 597.

I also know that a scope is only part of the equation.

The end of the day...its a friggin .22

any decent scope will do the job.

I still call bullshit, and I know its a .22...thats why 1" groups at 100yrds is not an easy task with a stock rifle with any ammo...like I said we could have a friendly shoot off, or we can just call bullshit, well bullshit

I call bullshit. I was there, I saw the target, it was a 100 round 1.25 inch ragged hole of a group. ;-)

My Ruger 10-22T has been shooting 10 shots into an inch at 100 yards for 15 years, only thing I added after pulling it out the box was a scope & mounts.

Vortex? Unconditional over the counter lifetime warranty is appealing.
