Why not, get to it. Its not going to finish itself

Then you have something to look forward to when you get back instead of where did I leave off and then of course the part out. Haha

Maybe you can take it with you even. I would love to wheel out in Colorado.

For one financially I don't think I can pull it off by then and I don't want to half ass it. I will be getting lots of ot out there so I will be able to get all the parts I want. If I get it close enough I may drop it off to rocksolid and have bj and mike do the finishing touches for me while I am gone.

What setup should I use for doing a 2 piece front driveshaft? I can have any machining I need done by a friend if need be. I'm looking for as cheap as possible but still getting a descent product.

Got started on the front truss and brackets today.

I am waiting for my psc stuff so bj over at rocksolid quick whipped me up a mock up ram that is the correct size and has the right amount of stroke. It appears that I have enough room that I can flip the knuckles and put the ram on the back side of the axle. I still have to finish gusseting the truss and building the mount for the ram.

Does anybody know how much vertical misalignment you can have from you double ended ram to where it mounts to your highsteer arms?

I would like to move the ram further forward an inch but I will be off more vertically.

Did you ever find a trans or do you still want me to look? I'm finally about 90% back to normal with my back issues.

I think I am going to stick with the 4l60 but I would like a price on a full manual reverse valve body and anything else I need to make it hold up. I don't need all the fancy shit but I would Like it to not blow up too quick

Nobody makes a reverse manual valve body for a 4l60E anymore. you have to convert it to a manual using transgos kit which is almost $300. I just did that for johnnyj plus added $140 of extra parts so it wouldn't blow up right away either you'll want to put a hardened sun shell, both hd sprags, a 'vet servo and wide sun gear bushings. Approximately $150 in labor.

What would my total price be do you think? I will have you put in the hardened output shaft that comes with the adapter kit while you are in there also.

Transgo kit from summit $225 plus shipping.
Other parts. $140
Labor to install parts, shaft, and shift kit $150
=
$515.

But I see you are possibly looking for a TH350 .

I keep going back and forth on the 2. I am getting a th350 tomorrow and I will throw that in and see what it looks like and make my decision by the end of the week on which one I am using. I want the reverse manual valve body more than overdrive. I also like the fact that the 350 is 2" shorter than 4l60. Somebody changes my mind on what I want every week it seems like

I like my TH350 but there are many times I wish I had overdrive.

I have thought a lot about your overdrive argument. That is the main reason I have been leaning towards keeping the 4l60. I just love the simplicity and size of the th350.

True, simplicity is a great thing off road. But if I were starting from scratch, I would do a trans with overdrive. Since I am not a trans guru and have not spent any time researching it, I don't know which I would do, or which is compatible. So, I have no advice for that.
Since you have options at the moment, I would go with the overdrive.

id go with the 4l65e like tom is saying. my last cruiser i went with the transgo manual valve body kit in a 4l65e and it was great to me.

my new cruiser came with a th350. it lasted about 4hrs of wheeling. If you have any wanting to run a 4 spd now just do it. mock it up for the 4spd now. becuase if you want to change it later it will cost you double to redo everything.

I'm looking forward to having the 4l60e that Tom built up for us. 1st gear should be great for launches. OD will be nice, too. As for length, the 4l60e with Novak adapter is the same length as a nv3550 from bellhousing to adapter.

Length isn't a huge issue but the shorter the better. You guys are talking me back into the 4l60. I hope to order my adapter this week at some point so I will have to make up my mind soon.

I am going to take your guys advise and stick with the 4l60.

I don't have the trans to t case adapter yet so I made a mock up adapter today.

I forgot about the thread I started about 4 link design and I went back to re read it. There is a few things with my rear that I didn't like so I am rebuilding some different link mounts. My uppers were longer than the lowers and the triangulation of the uppers and lowers weren't parallel. I also think I can move my upper frame end down a little when I shorten them and get them completely flat at ride height. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it all reworked.

Got out for a couple hours tonight. I re did the rear lower frame link mounts. I wanted to get them closer together.
I also put the tabs on the top of the front axle.
