Default 92 f250 electrical issue.

I was out plowing and all at once my dome light went out, radio lights up but otherwise quit working, speedo quit working, odometer quit working, OD light started flashing and truck was slamming in gears after that. Not sure what it was I headed in. Next morning I found that my positive terminal on my batt was loose. I had a truck in the past that the positive wire came off when I was driving and it fried everything that was on, or blew that fuse. And from some reading I learned that it was because the alternator power was pushing unregulated power to whatever was on? Not sure how true that is.

Well I had a spare ECU out of another truck that had a 5.0 and an e4od that I just put in my truck that has a 5.8 and e4od. Main thing was to check the trans. Once I changed it, the OD light quit flashing and it was shifting properly. So I know I need to find a new computer for a 5.8 but now I know that is fixed.

My main problem is that my speedo and odometer do not work (odometer is digital) normally I would give 2 shits about this But this truck is a 92 with only 40k original miles on the hole truck. Which if I ever do decide to sell it will be a huge selling point. And I like all my stuff to work properly.

Any ideas would be great.

I've already checked all fuses inside and out with volt meter.
Dome light bulb is also good. there is no power going to bulb.

And I need an ECU for a truck that has a 5.8 and e40d if any one has one laying around. my part number is F2TF-12A650-PB

Being that my truck is a base model with 0 options and computer will work that had a 5.8 and an e40d. The one I have in there from the 5.0 works but i'm sure there not he same.

Did you drive it after you tighten the battery with the factory computer?

Have fun chasing electric grembel. This reason I rid of my 95. WHOLE wiring harness rot inside plastic tubing.

You can't drive until you fix speedo issue or it will ruin your transmission fast. I found mine it was rot wiring by cab to rear axle abs sensor.

Yes. It shifted hard still and light still flashed.

Speedo not working has nothing to do with how it shifts. But the sensor that was your issue will. And your sensor will also make your gauge not work.

Is there any fusible links that may have burned up? Is there power at all the fuses

well got it fixed. I have power to my fuse panel and from it as well. I ran a power from batt up o the dome light and wall.. Everything came on. So I found the power coming off the fuse panel and cut it. I ran a new power from batt with inline fuse to the yellow wire in the back of my radio which powered up the hole circuit. one more thing done. still need PCM.
