Default descent hand held cb. what to get?

im not really set on mounting a permanent cb in my rig. was wondering how people have done with the handheld ones and which worked and which didnt.

looking for feedback and advice.

I bought and use one of these. Don't get the range of the other ones but I can communicate with the group I'm with.

I have the exact same midland model and use it most with the external antenna and cigarette lighter plug. It works well in this configuration in my tow rig, I think in a noisy environment you wouldn't get enough sound out of the little speaker. With the antenna on the top of the unit the alkaline battery pack and you inside a vehicle I wouldn't expect more than .5-.75 of a mile.
