Is it a auto or 5sp? I just picked up a 2000 4 cyl 5sp sonoma and was scared to even try to pull anything behind it. Kinda makes me wonder if it could handle a dolley and car. I need to haul my ghia up here and my Grand is to scary to drive right now, maybe I'll try it.

Hook it up. Drive arorund town for a bit.. if it seems ok take it on the freeway for a couple miles.. if it stops ok and everything.. you're fine

Talk about underpowered,my old tow rig was a 2.8 powered XJ. Towed with it for 3 years.

s-10's are cool had a blazer 4x4 still ran stong with 265000 orig miles had more cancer than a model t though

Must've been a pre 94' model... those were nitorious for rust speially around the bed ! but they held up a lot longer... so hmm a 98+ body a on Pre 94 chassis and drivetrain i guess thatd be an ok s-10

When I went to Texas I saw a convoy of several Dakotas each pulling 2 other Dakotas behind them (both on towbars). I guess I don't know what engines they put in Dakotas but I thought that was pretty funny.

Dakota's are preatty stout trucks.. they can come with up to a 5.9 (360) V-8.. Yea thats biger than some fullsize's Granted thats only in the R/T model butt Still.........

You could get the 5.9L with the 4 door cab version as well.
