Default Changes to CPL law on the horizon

Seems like there are some good changes to michigans CPL law in the works. Going up in the court are changes to make it legal to conceal carry in schools, bars, and churches. About time i'd say.

http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/03/...d-weapons-law/

The gun ban cry is just more bullshit, in the last 30 years almost every mass shooting has occured where guns are illegal to carry, open or concealed.

I guess we should just get rid of the speed limit signs on the highway. Seem like most people ignore them anyway since I get pasted on the highway all the time. Nothing works unless it's enforced. How many gun free zones are enforced?

The article you posted is from March. Right now this is on Snyder's desk awaiting either a signature or a veto.

Snyder is between a rock and hard place, if he signs it the anti-gunners will go nuts, if he doesn't sign it open carry will remain legal in schools.

Speeding is (generally) a civil infraction, unless it's extreme.

Carrying a gun into a gun-free zone will almost certainly result in the loss of your carry permit, as well as criminal penalties of some sort.

And how you you like to enforce it? Pat everyone down for weapons in pistol free zones? Enforcement action is taken when you are caught with a pistol in a pistol free zone

Not saying this is true. Its just what i was told.

First time being caught is a $500 fine and 6 month restriction of your CPL license.

Second time is a $ 5000 fine and your CPL being revoked permanently .

I read somewhere he urged them to change the wording to not allow OC in those zones and allow individual schools the option to remain pistol free. It was the first article I saw after I heard the bill got vetoed.

Yep. I don't want his purposed changes. If that happens, it makes it so local government trumps state law. It would get so confusing. From the wording I've read that he wants it, it inadvertently makes it so local Government could preempt state. Essentially individual cities could put a sign at their city limits and make the entire city a PFZ. Could you imagine the headache that would create.

If any of those office workers were carrying, I bet the Sandy Hook event would not have escalated like it did.

Yeah, because an armed "office worker" is just going to run out and throw down some tactical maneuvers like Bruce Willis in Die Hard, and take the bad guy out huh? I suppose you would know exactly what to do in that situation though.

supreme court already decided it was unconstitutional in D.C. to be "pistol free"

constitution trumps all.

That's a much better option than the one they had.
