2012 chevy colorado bed dimensions. apparently there isn't a long bed option, just bigger cab options
Dimensions WT 1LT

Cargo Box Length @ Floor 72.8 in 72.8 in
Cargo Box Width @ Floor 57.2 in 57.2 in
Cargo Box Width @ Wheelhousings 42.6 in 42.6 in
Tailgate Width 52.4 in 52.4 in

so it looks like neither of these is wide enough to set the tub in the bed nicely. I'll have to see if the f150 or ram 1500's bed is any wider.
The colorado does have a pretty fuel efficient 4 cylinder that still makes 195lbs of torque, so I guess I'm still looking into it

So the debate is, "little" truck with tub on it's side
or pulling a trailer
or maybe bigger truck and no trailer.

not really. Now I'm just trying to decide which truck/trailer combo or maybe no trailer at all. It might help if you actually read what was posted.......

I think I'll just send pm's to a few people for advice and update the thread when I'm finished. That way I don't have to put up with all you haters.

Ho Le Shit...

You do realize that when you buy something for say $40, and it cost $900 to physically get the item to you, that item cost $940 not $40 right?

I now realize why some ebay adds list the item for .99 cents with $50 shipping. People like you think they are getting a hell of a deal...

Honestly if you have to go through this big of a hassle, and the cost of shipping it here is obviously out of your price range, back out of the deal and find something closer to home. And for god sakes build in the cost of getting the unit to you when you think about price.

Kickstands truck is way better than anything you will find for $1500 and you may actually be able to flip it at that price and not loose your ass if you're nut set on carrying out that stupid plan you've got.

Did you even think about paying taxes on a truck you would buy for this trip? What about ins cost and plates? Even on a $2000 truck tax is $120, plates maybe $60 and say another $50 for insurance. You've already got $230 and you haven't even paid for a drop of gas yet.

FFS man $700 shipping is a deal.

I read about 2.5 posts but if this guy listens to advice he can get it shipped pretty cheap.

No time off work, if he has a job and it shows up within a week. Again I know almost no details but was starting to sound retarded.

if this has been said than take is as a x2

Yup I know how to do my accounting. The right truck would've worked out fine, I would be using it for a dd for a while, plate is transferrable. The problem with this long of a thread is that I've already answered these general questions like a dozen times.

I'm not fooled by the shipping price on ebay, so you're wrong about that.

But now I'll answer this statement: Kickstand's truck may be better, but I'm NOT buying a 7 or 8k dollar truck. Just isn't happening. I'm glad you think his truck is a better than one for $1500...... otherwise it probably shouldn't be for sale for $6500 more....

You obviously haven't read many of the posts either, because I had already said this...

You probably didn't even see my 2 examples of trucks I posted earlier that would work fine.... anyhow...

He does have a decent looking tub, but that's WAAAYYY more than I'm paying. If you think I just found a tub of equivalent price in Georgia, and just wanted to go down there for the view, or because I don't know how to use a calculator, than you're wrong.
I'm getting a GOOD deal on the tub and front clip, which is why I'm going to this effort.

I'll still be saving a solid amount of money INCLUDING the amount I spend on this trip (if I still use a smart way of getting down there.... like renting from enterprise)...
And now the only thing you can possibly have left to attack about all this is to say that the tub I'm getting must be a piece of junk!!
Also wrong!!

I've seen pics of it, and put a few up on here. It's in good shape. Thanks for your concern though.

well, if you read a little more than 2.5 posts, you'll see that I have, indeed, taken advice, and that's the angle I'm working on right now.

I do have time off, not sure where you made that up from.....
idk what you mean about it showing up in a week either..... I'll be free after a week or so....

So, to make things crystal clear....read this carefully.....

SHIPPING COSTS MORE THAN DRIVING WITH THE QUOTES I'VE GOTTEN!!!

so, I'm on a different bit of advice and am trying to get an enterprise rental pickup.

$5500 more... How's that accounting working out for you again?

My point was, and you clearly missed it, it will work better for your trip, and be actually worth selling when you're done.

I'll share some advice I got from my father when I was looking for a car at 16... "People don't get ahead buying junk"

We seem to be close to the same age at least, but come on man, you're willingly making this exponentially more complicated than it needs to be. Take a step back, actually look at what you think you are "saving" and ask yourself the question. "Is saving "$X" worth all of this hassle and time?"

Out of curiosity how much do you think you will save vs the $700 bill for shipping?

I'm sure you put it at least one post but my brain hurts.

Lastly...No one ever got ahead by buying shit vehicles for important jobs.

Hey sorry, you're probably trying to help, but I kinda lumped you in with the rest of the tools

I guess the tub is decent, but it would really have to come down a fair amount on price to beat what I'm getting... that's why I said that. I just called with no answer, but I'll txt him and see. I'll try it, don't think I wont; it's just that the price discreptancy INCLUDING (for the benefit of those who think otherwise) my travel costs to Georgia in back are substantially lower than that tub costs, that's all. I just don't see him dropping the price that much.

It sure wouldn't hurt to ask, so you're right about that. I'll talk to him about it and see. sorry for thinking you weren't trying to help.

well, if you read the posts.... he said he changed his price to 8k. I don't know if that was a joke or not, but that is $6500 higher than $1500, and my accounting is doing just fine, thanks.

You really should read a few posts back. They have been long, yes, to answer everyone's criticisms and still post updates to the plan. The important thing is

I HAVE LIKELY MOVED ON FROM BUYING A CHEAP TRUCK AND WILL NOW RENT ONE

(Unless I find a really good deal, which I'm not anticipating on doing or looking aggresively for anymore)

I have been taking a broad view on this to answer your question, and yes, I think the savings are worth it.
I'll be on break, and I think it would be sorta fun to make a long trip like that (and now I'll get criticized for that ).
Also, I have it saving me around $300 right now, which is worth it to me.

Ya know.... I hadn't really thought about that..... You're right, other than you dmc, milwaukee and a few others... I'm not really getting much out of this.
I just didn't like leaving everyone else's obviously wrong statements unanswered, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Good call. I'll keep in touch with whomever I need strictly via pm

For all you who have nothing to do but argue with me about question I've already answered....

I'm just going to stop replying to these posts, cause this isn't helping me!!!!! Just fyi
