Default Help me pick out a new camera

Yeah I know there's a Photography forum

Its been at least 7yrs since I last went shopping for a new digital camera so I've got no clue. Would like something that takes HD video and being able to pull still shots from the video is definitely high on my wish list since 1yr old kids dont like to sit still Budget is some what open at this point, cant spend a ton but willing to pay for quality. Main use is going to be family photos so not to worried about durability, fitting in my pocket, etc.

Help!

In all honesty, for the last few years all my pictures have been taken with a phone.

My wife loves her Cannon Rebel, and you've seen the pictures she has taken with it of my kids playin' hockey. Digital SLR, came with two lenses, for under $600.

Looks like the price has gone up a little though.

I've given up on taking pictures and just take video now. My cannon takes 1080P HD video and I pull my pictures from there. It's much easier that way. It takes a little more effort for sure.

The T3 is a little less expensive than the T3i, good camera too.

X3 I love my Canon Rebel. Battery life is excellent as well. There are a lot of deals out there now for T3's with two lenses memory card and printer for under $600.

bought a kit like this last january:

http://www.cameta.com/Nikon-D3100-Di...shed-64369.cfm

camera and both lenses "factory re-furbished"
not a mark on any piece. came with purchased-as-new warranty. camera shoots video and stills[up to 4 frames/sec]
only thing is get the SanDisk EXTREME cards as they cycle faster for speed shots. my next purchase will be a low light zoom lense from these guys.
