Exclamation what trans for a LS1 in a 2000 tj

so im going to be dropping a LS1 in my 2000 jeep wrangler sport come spring time, i was wondering what trans people have used in the past the might be cost effective, i still want it to me a manual as well.

at work today me and a few co-workers discussed about the t-case as well, we came up with i might just drop a AWD transfer case in it so its just one less cable to mess with and it would be pretty cool.

so lets here what you all have done or have heard done, thanks wade

If you want a stick use a nv 4500 out of a chevy truck with a 242 case.I would skip the awd idea because you wont have low lock.

What Trans do you currently have in the jeep?

If its the nv3550 and you really want a stick, I would just use that.

ive been driving my 01 tj ls swapped with nv3550 for 3 months and its fine i dont power shift it (dont have to second gear is good from 15mph to 80+mph if the pedal is down with 4.10s and 33's

you just have to use the novak kit for the newer 6 speed to ls1 it works for the ax-15,nv3550 and the 6 speed

if my 3550 goes south i will buy a ax-15 "terminator" from rockland standardmgear

An awd tcase will go "in-op" on u off road. They don't like heat on that coupler that makes it work.
