History shows it's never done.

Rear diagonals are in. Pretty happy with how they turned out. Plan is to drop a /\ between the seats on the B-pillar.

The tire tucks nicely in there. Gas tank is still removable.

Yesterday I worked on the floors a bit more. Still need to fill in near the gas pedal where the 4.7 used to poke in, but that will likely wait until the engine is out again.

We also spent some time cycling the front and rear suspension to get drive shaft measurements and check that exhaust still clears while flexing. It does.

I had some time on Sunday to to do some sheet metal work on the pass side. I drilled out the pop rivets and welded the panels in. This pretty much wraps up the pass side foot well. I need to burn in the driver's side, cover up the hole from the manual trans, and make a patch on the firewall still. I think I figured out how to do the back section of the jeep, too. I'm thinking I'm going to end the factory floor at the front of the back seat mount bar. I'll make a flange and tie it in. Then I'll run tin on the back side of the b-pillar and tie from the rear seat mount bar to that piece.

Jesse and I knocked out the rear B-pillar support. Jesse's nephew Jacob came over and knocked out the corner gussets and a bar on the driver's side b-pillar that we've been putting off. For tube work on the passenger side of the firewall we need an A-pillar support and door bars plus a kicker from C-pillar to the frame. Also need to figure out seat belt mounting.

Latest full stuff picture with more tube work filling in.

I like it. It looks real good. Too bad you dont have a Go-Pro to film that thing in action.

Here's some pics from the past few weeks. Floor patching is pretty much done. There's a few small things left to do, but the PITA pieces are done. We have to add some fresh metal behind the seats on the floor and to up the b-pillar to separate the fuel cell and hang the rest of the outside skins.

I reworked the shifter opening, something I have been meaning to do for about 10 years now. The Atlas shifts better than ever and I went to straight shifters instead of the bent up TJ shifters and made them 3" longer. Jesse's brother Mitch is going to machine some shift knobs for us and patch up our steering column.

We messed around for a while tonight trying to figure out the dash and trans shifter mount. We are going with a CJ-ish flat dash, and might hang the art carr shifter in the middle of it.

We finished up the shock mounts and borrowed some springs from AlumCJ to get corner weight estimates. Looks like around 750#/corner up front and 550#/corner in the back. We added some ballast up front to make up for no winch and used ballast in back to show a full fuel cell and spare tire. It's the first time we've had the jeep holding up it's own weight.

It's sitting probably 4" below ride height in the photo if we shoot for 7" uptravel.

Jesse and his brother also put in a few more support tube around the shocks on the pass side. One of the tubes will need a slight bend on the driver's side to go around the brake booster.

You can also see the start of the fan shroud and radiator mounting. It's a 24"x19" double pass Speedway radiator and we will be using a 19" ZJ 4.0 fan.

more tubes.

There's about 3/16" clearance between the tube and booster.
