Default Question about registering a handgun.

A friend of mine is just out of the forces where he was based in Arkansas. He bought a handgun down there used where there is evidently no law requiring handguns to be registered. He wants to sell me this gun but it comes with no paperwork and he recieved none when he bought it from a show down there. i am wondering what kind of hoops i would have to jump through to make it legal. The gun still has serial numbers so i have no reason to believe it would be stolen.

Same as you would to buy a pistol in the state.
Go get a PP and bring it back to the sheriff.

I would take the serial number from the gun with you when you go to get a PP and see if the sheriff will run them just to make sure there are no issues with it before you buy it.

Give him cash, stick it in your gun safe, and forget you own it until you need it, then dump it in a lake.

Is it a crime to have an unregistered pistol in MI?

Nope, only to get caught with one.
