The T case was a problem that could have been avoided. The oil pump in the t case would rub a hole in the case and drain the t case, most of the time without really seeing a drop of oil. They make a kit to repair them before the problems rubs a hole right trough but without being aware of the problem it often goes unnoticed until its to late, and the shift fork is melted, the chain stretched and bearings pooched.

Internationals trump all those trucks
Plus if you get a 4 car Carrier you can split gas many ways

the 6.0 powerstroke has headgasket issues, the cab has to come off to replace them.

I had a 04.5 cummins ho 325hp 600ft lb with the nv 5600 6sp manual transmission . I absolutely loved that truck, if it was not a regular cab I would still have it. I now have a 96good F350 4x4 srw crew cab long bed 7.3 . The Ford is a complete pooch I have rebuilt the trans replaced a head both rear spring hangers need replaced I love the room of the cab but really miss the unmistakable grunt and power of my cummins. Don't get me wrong tho I did have to put all 6 injectors in the cummins at 200k so they both had their issues but I do plan to put a cummins in my ford eventually I will just have to suffer for now.

I have a 2000 7.3.
I love it. Pulls awesome. But the 4r100 trans that comes in these are junk. Mainly it's the converter that's bad. I put 2k into internals in my trans and I hope to never have to touch it again.
Each one has pros and cons..
I would say if your going to be mainly towing. Get the stick.

I know not a ton more money but a little more, and I want a 4wd so I can take it ice fishing. I have been really stuck on getting a cummins, but I really like extended cab mid 90's fords. I'd prefer to get a manual. I'll probably pick something up this spring or summer, what should I stay away from or what should I look for?
