Yes as "oddfirecj5" said, you must have insurance and plates. We notify the local sheriffs department and Conservation Officers of our events so they tend to show up and watch every now and then. If it's not street legal, they are going to let you know about it.

A team is however many people can sit in your vehicle and everyone has a seatbelt to use. If you can get 4 people in your Jeep, you can have 4 people on your team.

Your long bed won't have any problems with the course.

No, it's not fast paced at all. The teams are release onto the road course at 2 minute intervals. That way we don't have a parade type effect. You travel at your own pace and have a total of 3 hourse to complete the 46 miles. Most of it is paved rural roads that take you to the stream crossings, Devil's Staircase, the tunnel and the covered bridge. You can stop and take a break anytime you like as long as you are back within that 3 hour time limit. There is also a small general store along the route where you can get fuel, food and supplies.

Yes but you'll be meeting up with other teams from time to time. Some people drive slower, some faster.

Don't forget, for those who want to compete in order to win prizes, there is a scavenger hunt involved also.

What's the objective here? What am I paying money for? If its not a race, and its not a competition, then what's the draw?
