Default trans to tcase engagement?

so 2002 jeep and I have a Dana 300 behind the nv3550. How much spline engagement is enough. Its a 23 spline. I read one guys opinion on it a while back but can't find it and don't remember what it was. So looking for opinions.

thanks Cory
