Hindsight's 20/20. I'm sure everyone wishes they knew where the next attack will be so we can be ready for it, but we can't make every embassy and consulate into a fortress. I'm sure some armchair commander and chiefs will claim that he should have known, but without reading the daily briefs I'll leave the speculation to them.

The thing that really ticks me off about how this situation was handled is the white house playing the blame game, so consistent with their other messages during the past four years...

In this case, it was some you-tube video that was to blame. Then when that fell apart (heaven forbid someone should make an insulting video and post it online, or on comedy central for that matter); then Hillary Clinton had to jump on the grenade and say it was all her fault and the white house was oblivious to the situation. What a bunch of crap!

First rule of leadership: be accountable.

You need to read up on it more. It wasn't simply a not knowing about it, or some other BS. They watched it happen when the necessary weapons to prevent it were in place.

Exactly. It's easy for us to sit here nearly 2 months later and say what we think he should have done. It's far more difficult to make split second decisions while the crisis is unfolding. If he sent the military in and they got ambushed and even more got killed he would be accused of killing Americans by sending them in unprepared. It is had turned out to be much ado about nothing he would have been accused of over reacting and wasting resources.

From what I read there were really two battles. One 7 hour battle at the embassy and a 4 hour battle at the safe house. There was also drone sending video back. He knew the situation.

And chose to blame it on a "Christian" video.

At some point there may have been drone, but not at the beginning.

The notion of the President sitting around with his advisers watching events unfold on a live feed from drones and deciding to do nothing is absurd. I'm sure they made what they felt was the best decision at the time.

If he had sent in the military and the results where anything like either of these 2 situations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Mogadishu_(1993),
Operation_Eagle_Claw Operation_Eagle_Claw
all of you would be blasting the President for sending in armed forces without knowing the complete situation.

No it wouldn't have. One shot from the 105mm cannon on an AC-130 would have neutralized the threat pretty damn quick.

I believe we should always err on the side of defending our citizens. I won't pretend to know what resources were available but I would rather have sent a black hawk helicoptor in to assess the situation than sit back.

I also have a hard time understanding how anyone would tell our people to stand down and not go to assist their fellow Americans when gunshots are being heard.

To get re-elected and maintain his hippy friendly idealistic war policies. There are real threats in the world that have to be dealt with violence. That's just the reality of things. People who say otherwise are ignorant and fools, Obama being one of them.

How does this help him get elected?
