I have hit those bars on my cage more than once....you gotta remember as you lean over that 14" transitions from horizontal to vertical putting those bars that much closer to trail obstacles.

As for the harness.....rather than building a cross inside why not cut two holes in the rear of the cab and run two short tubes from the bed cage straight in so you are tied directly to the main cage.....you can use rubber grommets to seal the tubes to the cab. This is how mine are and it works out really well....i can get some pics of what i mean if you want.

I would rather be tied down to the cab instead of the rear cage. If something horrible were to happen like a rollover that seperated the cab from the frame I would hate to get choked out by my harness since its anchored to the rear cage.

It will have a full exo before its finished but the way I see it is even with an Exo there is some room between the cab and tubing. If Im strapped in tight and say a rear body mount breaks even a inch or two of movement upward from the cab could make that harness really snug around my chest.

I could be completely wrong in my logic but I at least think in my own head what I plan to do will work ok.

Thanx Tex......wish it was half as badass as yours is!

Here is the rad mount without the fan on it.

And for fun here is how the sheet metal will look.

Got the chassis harness hooked up today and the lights all work.

Looking great bro

Rule of thumb, attach the harness to what the seat is. That way they can't move independently of each other.

Welded in a crossbar for the harness. Plated the floor then added the tubing, feels really solid and should work good with the stock bench.

And I got the cage all painted finally. Scotchbrited the whole thing then wiped it down with thinner.

And mounted up an overflow for the rad.

The harnesses were my best compromise... Thats the highest I could mount the bar and still get the seat to slide all the way back. Im over 6ft tall and 270lbs so I need every click I can get out those seat tracks. For how I wheel I see no reason to worry about how they are mounted since the lap belts will be doin most of holding me in the seat. Major drawback of not having a ex-cab.

Anyway today I finished up the interior for now. Harnesses done, headliner out, auto pedal essembly in,booster in and stock seat belts reinstalled for street driving. Also got chassis wiring done so all lights work, wipers work,overflow/windshield washer bottle works.

And I got the fan mounted up so I can start wiring that.

Since I have the booster in now I need to buy a master cylinder so I can start plumbing. Should I just stick with a stock 83 Ranger master or is something different I should use off another truck since my 9in/d44 has bigger brakes?
