Are these supposed to be building? The Holland web cam isn't showing much for big waves.

Suppose to come later today according to channel 5. I spent the first 45 years of my life about 20 min. from Lake Michigan. Seen some big waves, but 33 feet?!! HOLY. All I can say is I hope people have enough sense to stay off the pier. Thanks Mtnbikinbryno for posting the web cam links.

My brother lives in Manhatten and there is a mandatory evacuation going on along with other cities.I think flying any where over there is going to be a nitemare,if there are any flights.

Leaving my house and going to Detroit isn't the same as driving into a storm for 10 hours. I would say I hoped the shooter shoots you in the ass too but it would be a lie since I secrety love you.

Pretty much all of the flights and ground transportation is shut down.
I just talked to the staff and most of them are already out of power at home from the wind.

Why are you guys looking at the web cams on Lake Michigan when the Gale warnings are on Huron and Erie?

X2, It appears that the eastern lakes are going to get hit pretty good although Lake Michigan does have a Gale Warning out through tomorrow night with 11-12 feet waves expected and winds at 45 knots. Looks like this Frankenstorm is actually going to pack a little bit of a punch afterall. I know it is knocking me out of bow hunting for the next couple of days!

That doesn't give you a clue that maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't make the trip?

You won't see 33 foot waves that close to shore, the water isn't that deep, you'd have to be a bit off shore to see the bigger waves.

RONG. Thats twice today. Waves get bigger as they travel into shallow water (shore). Jeez. You should go back to bed.

You can't have a 33 foot tall wave in 20 feet of water.......the 30 foot swells will be well offshore.

I didn't say impossible, I guess my point, was that in my lifetime, I have noticed with the gradual sandy shore lines around the great lakes the waves typically get smaller and smaller the closer you get to shore because the bottom forces them to break and get smaller as they come to shore. Typically the large 30+ foot swells in the great lakes are well off shore.

Just lemme know when that 30+ footer hits the shoreline tomorrow, be sure to snap me a picture too.

green I didn't see any video's of a 30 foot tall wave from any recent tsunami's It looked a bit shorter.

When a wave comes in at half the height of one of those lighthouses let me know.
