Default Luther/ Baldwin area

I am headed up there this weekend, and wondering if anyone knows of some places to go around there? I have been through the National Forest roads north of Luther around the Lake and Wexford county line. I know to stay away from the trail systems like Little Manistee, Lincoln Hills, and anything with the orange trail numbers for the sleds. I have a map of the numbered roads from the NFS website which lists closed roads. Just looking for another area or some destinations to go take a trial ride to. Thanks.

The hill you speak of,and any part of the power line that is not marked as the trail,is off limits. It is trespassing and the dnr will treat it as such.

Not on snowmobiles. Snowmobiles do what they want.

This is State road and travels along the power lines and the majority of it is not much more than a two track. While the hill is illegal and there are many user created trails-roads that aren't legal. The main road is legal to travel. Just make sure you are where you are suppose to be and you will be fine.

Exactly. The hill is the only thing that cant be done in a cavelier, and it is off limits. It's a fine place to two track, just nothing challenging.

i got an "operating an orv in a closed area" there years ago....the advice i got from the cop was this...."if you are gonna climb the hill, and you are stopped by police or the dnr, claim to have wandered off the tin cup and they will send you right back to the trail"...."you can climb the hill, just climb and keep going on down the road to the next set of hills"....

My preferred time to run state road is in the winter when it is not plowed by the county, this can make the ride from 10 to Luther quite interesting. When I am up there I usually run the forest roads north of Luther towards M-55. I want to get over on the west side of 37 and see what is around that part of the area. cult which side of 10 are you on?
