At&T up north...how's the coverage?

2 years of driving all around northern lower michigan, and eastern UP; take it from me. AT&T sucks ass up north, very little service in the boondocks, and really crappy service that you do get in the cities. Verizon is the only cell carrier that gets pretty good reception in the northlands

x2 At&T JUST added 3g here in gaylord instead of edge. Years behind verizon. Ive had my verizon phone for about 6 years and wouldnt switch. Their plans piss me off tho. I went in to just upgrade, got my unlimited data taken from me and dropped to 2g's and my bill didnt change. They are both crooks but verizon has better service in the boonies up here IMO

I have at&t and live outside of gaylord and get good enough reception I dont have any prblms making a call. I also have a friend out at lake arrowhead which is right by lakes of the north and I get decent reception out there too.

I don't know we were in Grand Marais for a week and while I didn't have service with AT&T my daughters friend was up dating facebook on Verizon.

I'm at lakes of the north right now. My 4s is in extended service I have no 3G but do have between 2 and 3 bars. Plenty to make calls and send and receive txt. 20 mins away in Gaylord I have have full sprint service with 3G.

I hear ya there.

Our new cabin is outside Atlanta and my work-issued Verizon phone wouldn't quit this past weekend. My android verizon phone only gets texts & e-mail, though. I found that if I take my mi-fi the internet works just fine and my personal phone will connect to it and work for internet and texts. Phone calls are still a little tricky but I can carry on a conversation out in our front yard.
